An Aqua Story – Finding Nemo Finished
It has been a fairly quick ride, the finishing of the Finding Nemo quilt. The center took only a few hours to quilt. It was really fun to quilt and I will share more details in an upcoming post. I love the aqua, turquoise, navy blues with the little pops of color like orange and yellow too. I think it’s a happy quilt. ~smile~

The quilt ended up being 36″ x 44″ after it was washed. Don’t you just love how puckery and, well, quilted it feels after it has been washed and dried? I do. The fish themselves make me smile as they all have a personality. While it is hard to see, the white squares are actually nine-patch blocks with two different white fabrics:
We like to do this just to add some texture and visual interest (and maybe to keep us on our toes, too). Both are white-on-white prints. We use that style a lot – sometimes with stars or hearts on them. Those are some of my leader/ender piles that I use to push through other projects on my sewing machine. It seems like I always have them sitting next to my sewing machine. I used an aqua thread to stitch both the waves and the fish shapes in the border.
For the backing we chose a coordinating fabric with circles that resemble air bubbles. It is amazing to me that the colors match so well but were not a part of the original fabric line. I’ve listed this in our Etsy Shop. We’ll see if it garners any interest.
