Buff November Monthly Color Challenge Block
The bird that inspired this month’s lovely color is the Buff-breasted Sandpiper. Buff! The color for the November block in the monthly challenge hosted by Jen at Patterns By Jen is my favorite. Anyone who knows me well knows that buff is definitely in my color wheelhouse. Cream, ecru, off-white, ooh-la-la . . . stop me now. I ♥ love ♥ this color and block!
Sue cut out the needed pieces for me and sets me up on the correct path. Sometimes I stay on the path . . . and sometimes I fall off or veer off by accident. Thankfully, there were no accidents or veering this month. After making two half-square triangles (HSTs) for each corner piece, a square-in-a-square was needed as the center sparkle. No problem and the layout came together in no time.
Buff Block Completed Lickety Split
We are pleased to share our November finished block. More so than any of the other blocks, the black background fabric seems to make the buff pieces appear to be floating. Don’t you think?
Buff Finished Block Joins Design Wall
All 11 blocks, in order, are hanging out on the design wall. Only one more block for December and our 12 blocks will be ready to assemble into a quilt top.
Would you like to hazard a guess for the December block and bird?? We have selected a possible fabric for sashing strips from Hancock’s of Paducah. Dot Delights is by Robert Kaufman Fabrics – right up our alley, don’t you think?
Finally, we have raised our hands for joining Jen in the 2021 monthly color challenge blocks. This will be our third year participating in the nicely paced sew-along which ends with a dozen generously sized blocks to make a throw. Jen is looking for more bloggers to participate so check out her link above if you’d like to play along.
