Color of the Month Block March Connection
We are joining in with Jen at Patterns By Jen for this monthly challenge. This is the first time we’ve participated in a monthly block, and it has been fun so far.
The color of the month for March is navy. I love that Jen has shared all of the colors by month at the start of the challenge. Her inspiration this month is Love in a Mist, a nice dark blue tending toward purple. This block like all of the blocks will finish at 12 inches.
Our Color Block
Jen shares the pattern for the current month at no cost. Thank you very much, Jen. Jen’s version used a navy blue with a medium blue that really sings the blues. We are using the same low volume background fabric that we introduced with the January block.
The March block features a center hourglass mini block similar to the one we made for February. The navy fabric is some that is left over from making a sweet airplane-inspired baby quilt for Grant. I didn’t notice that the fabric had a directional pattern until I looked at the photo above. Too late – it’s already sewn together. I wonder what the trick is for those two HSTs to turn out correctly?! Next time I’ll have to take note and figure it out first!
I am really happy with how the block turned out!
Three Months Worth of Blocks
Here are our January, February and March blocks together on the design wall.
The free block is available until March 31, 2019, so if you are interested hop on over now! To see blocks made by other quilters, be sure to use the hashtag #2019monthlycolorchallenge on social media. I am looking forward to seeing everyone’s blocks as the months progress, and to finish with a pretty quilt. Next month’s color is blue. I think that will look nice with the Sand dots, don’t you think?
