February OMG Project
Was January just the longest month for you? This may have made our month seem just a wee bit longer, with -56 F windchill. It seems like it would never end to us, but we usually save that sentiment for February. Truly, only four little weeks in length, yet it goes on and on and on. Those four short weeks give me pause when selecting our February OMG project to share on Elm Street Quilts link up. I need to select a project that I actually believe we can accomplish. Hmm, what to pick, what to pick?
Common Sense Should Prevail
Way back when, during the first week of January, we joined the First Quarter Finish Along with a list of 11 items. Common sense should prevail, and one of those items should be selected as the monthly goal. There are several fun projects to choose from, and some that could SO easily be completed. Hmm, what to do? Do you even care at this point??!
The reason I am dithering is 100% Sue’s fault. Oh, her of the MASTER list, she wants to complete something on that list that is ancient. And it was not included in the 11 items mentioned above – another DrEAMi (drop everything and make it) project, if you will. Here is the clincher, the argument of all arguments that I just cannot resist.
Yes, this fabric is the clincher. I ordered this fabric (she MADE me) especially for this 12″ block. We had to do the math ourselves to determine how much fabric we would need for a baby quilt. Is this not going to be THE cutest baby quilt ever?!! Will I ever be able to part with it? N.O.P.E.
What the H is the February OMG project then??
All dithering aside, we are making a baby quilt from the Make Mine A Double quilt block. We will make 12 blocks, in a 3 x 4 layout plus perhaps a borders or something. Excitement abounds here as this is something we have wanted to make forever or at least since I found the post sometimes after 2012. Just look at the block from Moosequilts blog:
Swiss Dots all over the place, stars and just overall goodness. As you can see from the photo above, we chose our red and blue fabrics with a bandana pattern. I ordered these fabrics at the same time as the Swiss Dots for the Color of the Month Block Connection. Who could resist either the Sand or Red dots?! Not us. Thinking ahead about quilting possibilities, I’m digging on those paisley shapes. Just pondering about that now. ~smile~
