First Quarter Finish A Long Update
Quarter One Finish A Long
We did join the Quarter Finish Along this year. Our friend and fellow blogger, Nicole, at Handwrought Quilts is one of the Hosts for the 2019 Finish A Long.
Since we already do a weekly and monthly setting of goals or to-do, why not add a quarterly?! So, how did we do in the first quarter?
So What Did We Finish
Here are the eleven items we selected to finish. An overly ambitious list as it turns out:
Wings quilt for February blog hop at Just Let Me Quilt New Dr Seuss #1 finished and listed on Etsy
- Dr Seuss #2 finished and listed on Etsy
- New Dr Seuss #3 finished and listed on Etsy
- Cinderella quilt for Addi’s grandma (from Carol at Just Let Me Quilt)
Tag quilt for Addi – thanks to Squirrel Grand Poobah, Wendy Color a month block – January through March Quilt Mary’s beautiful quilt
- Harley t-shirt quilt
Hidden Stars QAL quilt top
- Rainy Days quilted ??
Quarter One with Six Finishes
Some of these items had built-in deadlines like the Butterfly Welcome for Carol’s blog hop (#1). That deadline made it easy to finish and it is hanging on our front door! Dr. Seuss #1 is finished and sold.
Another one with a self imposed deadline was the Tummy Time tag quilt (#6) for Addison. She needs it while she’s laying on her tummy, not when she’s walking around right?! The monthly color blocks are all up-to-date.
Mary’s quilt (#8) and Hidden Stars (#10), which just eeked in as a quilt top thanks to March having five weekends.
Quarter One Has Fails too
Some of the items on the list were a fail because I got bored. That perfectly describes the two Dr Seuss quilts that are a non-finish, although one quilt top is ready for quilting. One project was delayed in reaching us – (#9) the Harley t-shirts. Plans fell apart for various weather-related reasons, so we just got started on this project in late March. Sue did start to deconstruct the t-shirts though.
Also, we did find a wide backing called Concrete in various shades of black. I guess I should say dark gray and black because are there actually shades of black? It should be an absolute, at least in my mind.
The Cinderella quilt (#5) is delayed for fabric selection. Since the carriage and horses have to be just so, we wanted to take our time to find the perfect choices. Sue, Janice and I all remember seeing the carriage in the Disney World evening parade and would like to imitate that if possible. It took our collective breaths away is was SO pretty. The picture above is from Carol and her pattern, Her Carriage Awaits at Just Let Me Quilt.
First Quarter Grade
Our ‘score’ if you will for the first quarter is only 55%. We wouldn’t even be awarded a ‘D’ if given a letter grade. However, more that half of the eleven items are complete and we’re happy with that. On to the second quarter.
