How Are You Going to Paisley Quilt It?
Now that our Make Ours a Double February OMG is complete, my question to myself is always How Are You Going to Quilt it?! Here’s the quilt top itself awaiting quilting. Yes, it’s still just hanging there . . .
I knew I wanted to incorporate paisleys into the quilting design because they are prevalent in the bandanna fabrics.
The navy has a ruffly paisley shape while the red has one with more clean lines.
Paisley Pared Down
For the center blocks, I had wanted to do paisley inspired shapes. I
stressed thought about it endlessly dwelled on this way too much, as usual. I even dragged my feet on completing the project, just knowing that quilting was imminent. Seriously?!!
I find a lot of inspiration from Wendy at Ivory Spring blog. This isn’t really a paisley shape but it certainly has some characteristics that are similar. Plus, I think it’s a design I can easily encompass across all of the center blocks easily.
Truly Paisley Borders
For the sashing and borders, it’s all paisley all the time. I found this video that shows how easy it will be to add a continuous design all around the borders and sashing.
This was found at the Quilted Joy website, and there is another video which shows an enhanced version with a little decoration in the tummy of the paisley. So that’s my mental plan and I’m hopefully sticking with it. What do you think? Here’s my attempts to draw it!
