I Love Thursday #115 So Many Blessings
This is the 115th post of things we love for the week. We post these loves each Thursday along with LeeAnna on her blog at Not Afraid of Color. Several additional friends also share on a weekly basis – be sure to check them out. You will surely find something to inspire you.
Pretty lights! At the Chicago Botanic Garden in Glencoe, IL they have a new feature this season called Lightscape. Oh so very pretty, my favorite parts are the purple ribbons of lights that hang down as you walk through them, and the tunnel of light. Running through January 5th, this seems to be a not-to-be-missed event near my workplace.
Home Alone! Here’s a fun little fact that I just learned in the local newspaper after working here for over seven years. The Home Alone house that is used in the movie is nearby in Winnetka, Illinois. There have been several owners since the 1990 movie was made, and they have had to add a fence. I guess people actually walked up to the house and looked in the window to see if it matched what was shown in the movie. Seriously?!!
It sure looks festive but a nice layer of snow would make it look even prettier, don’t you think?
These fun lights! I didn’t know this was possible . . . but I received these in an email and saved them to my computer. Did you know you could share a .gif file here in WordPress? Do you see the lights blinking? I hope so – it is very cool.- and unusual that I like them. We don’t even have blinking lights on our Christmas tree, yet I like them here. I think they’re pretty darn nifty.
Winter solstice. Have you noticed it yet?? The days, they are getting longer. Okay, you can’t prove it by me yet . . . but last Saturday was the Winter solstice so they really ARE getting longer. It’s all downhill or uphill from here, sliding into Spring right around the corner.
I’ve got a few pre-Christmas photos to share because some exciting things happened before the holiday. Andrea took both kids to Barnes & Noble for storytime and Addison decided that was the day she would start walking. There were some books that caught her eye and she needed to check them out. Then Grandma took her swimming and she decided she LOVES the water! Christmas Eve eve we all went out for lunch and Dominic sat in his first booster seat. He even colored like a big boy. Andrea got a few photos of the kiddos in their Chrismas Eve duds; Addison sat like a pretty girl while Dominic seemed to prefer to lay about. Addi had to give him a look for that! ♥ ♥ ♥
Addison received her first baby doll from Uncle Richard and Aunt Elaine and she was quite delighted with it. If you give it a little shake, shake, shake bells ring. Christmas morning dawned early with Dominic finding Hooper’s Store all set up in the living room. Finally, Dominic enjoyed giving Abbi (from Sesame Street) a hug while Addison loves Grover very much. These littles are so much fun – we are so very, very, very blessed.
