I Love Thursday #42
This is our 42nd post of things we love for the week. We post these loves each Thursday along with LeeAnna on her blog at Not Afraid of Color. Several additional friends also share on a weekly basis – be sure to check them out. You will surely find something to inspire you.
QAL Prize Winner! I do not participate in QALs for the prizes. It is fabulous that many QALs have sponsors, but that never is a consideration for me to join in. I haven’t joined in all that many, but most have been because it was something I really wanted to make like Postcard. Most recently, it was a pattern that I really liked and definitely wanted to make from Sandra’s Plus Playtime. Sandra informed me that I won two patterns from Leanne from Devoted Quilter. How fabulous is that?! Leanne has several really cool patterns, and we selected Scraps Squared and Friendship Galaxy. We are both looking forward to making a quilt from each of these patterns. Thank you so much to Leanne and Sandra!
Driving and dominoes! I really do enjoy a good road trip, and driving a distance doesn’t bother me. We went and visited my brother and sister-in-law in mid-state Illinois for the weekend. That trip involves driving through Chicago, but there were no issues coming or going. Woot woot! We left at my normal work day time of 5:00 a.m. and on the return trip we timed it to around 8:30 p.m. Even though there was construction we didn’t have to go any slower than 50 – a win/win. We enjoyed a really nice visit, and my brother retains his domino championship although we tried our best to take him down. My niece and her husband joined us as well. It was so nice to see everyone!
Giraffes! We are expecting a new baby near the end of the year, and that means designing a baby quilt. The theme is going to be giraffes, so we started the search for the perfect fabric, etc. Here is the sweet little guy we are going to model George (or Georgia) the giraffe after. We are also going to add a tree with multi-colored leaves for him to munch on. The leaves in George’s mouth are a nod to our little sock boy (picture in Monday’s To-Do post)!
Babies and Weddings! Not only are we expecting one new addition at the end of the year, but another almost-daughter is expecting as well. They live in Texas so we won’t get to be hands-on very often – darn it. But we do have a very special Frog and Toad quilt all ready for her and baby-to-be, Alice. In just a month, we will be enjoying William and Nicole’s wedding, and her bridal shower is just two weeks away. We’d better get cracking on those table and island runners!
Dominic has been enjoying the summer and is on the verge of walking. He’s oh so very close and is great at doing the yoga pose downward dog. Here is our morning greeting, with momma interrupting his play in his ball house. He has finally mastered getting in and out of it, although it’s not always a pretty slight. ~smile~
That’s it for this week! We hope your week is filled with many blessings. Happy Thursday!
