I Love Thursdays – Post #3
Here is a brief list of some of the things that I love and have touched my life recently. Lee Anna at Not Afraid of Color posts a celebration all of her ‘likes’ for the week on Thursday on her blog. Loving the idea behind this, I asked if I could join in and share what I love. I was welcomed with warm, friendly arms! Maybe you’d like to join us, and link up with Lee Anna? Check on some of her likes and those of her friends – they will make you ~smile~.

Starting new quilting projects! There is something about thinking about what to make next, what fabrics should be used, how should it be quilted, etc. that is just fun. I have been thinking about options for a new queen size quilt for myself, and a king size quilt for Sue. A sampler quilt for me, and possibly a Hunter’s Star quilt for Sue in navy and white. I did get distracted by this Postcard from Sweden quilt (OMG!!), and MSQC’s tutorial for the Hunter’s Star pattern:

I am reading the third book in the David Baldacci series about Amos Decker, called The Fix. It was highly recommend to me, and it does not disappoint. If you are interested in the series, I would recommend starting with the first book, Memory Man. I got it from the library and sent it to my eReader. When I had some free time at lunch one day and didn’t have it with me, I sent it to my phone – I wouldn’t want to waste any time when I could be reading!

Listening to the rain hit the roof of the house. It makes me feel nice and safe inside, and thankful as well. It makes for a great day of sewing, too!
Love #4
Thinking about the upcoming holidays – we always have a large gathering on Christmas Eve. We’ll have an almost-four-month old in the house by then. I’ve got to get to work on a Christmas stocking for him, and his mom wants a picture with him stuffed in the stocking. He is our little miracle!

The sound of the rain is relaxing. Especially if it is a gentle one. Great time to stay inside and relax in my sewing room. 😊
Agreed! But since I have to be at work today, in MORE rain, that’s okay too. Certainly nice to be inside and thankful that I don’t have to work outside. ~smile~ Roseanne
Roseanne, It is rainy, very windy and cold here today! I have to go out in it tonight to attend the MCFA group at the Blue Bar quilt shop. It will be miserable but fun because of the meeting and the fabrics!!!! Somebody has to do it though. Lucky me! 😊
Cindy, I’m glad you are up for the challenge. Some times we just have to go out, darn it. ~smile~ Roseanne
that’s right! 🙂
Rain on the roof is wonderful, especially if you have one that doesn’t have a crawl space between you and the roof. I love Postcard from Sweden. Who knew that HST could be so interesting?
Hi Sally,
HSTs – they really are interesting. So darn versatile. Postcard has won me over – I ordered a Kona bundle this morning. ~smile~ Roseanne
Thanks for the book recommendation! I am always looking for new authors to try out! I, too, love the thinking part when trying decide about a new quilt to make – there are so many things to try out there. Your two idea photos look wonderful!
Hi Diann,
I just ordered some solid Kona today to move along on Postcard. Green Fairy is having a 40% off bundles – I had to partake. ~smile~ Roseanne
Great likes! I love the sound of rain too (especially when I am in my sewing room). Looking forward to seeing the quilts and stockings you make! Have a wonderful day!
Hi Michele,
Thank you so much for your nice comments! The sun is shining so wonderfully today – it warms my heart. Blessings to you! ~smile~ Roseanne
I haven’t read David B. but have a story. One day my husband and I were sitting in a park on Dupont Circle when a group of young men sat right next to us. Some people would have been scared but I started talking to one guy and found out he lived in a very poor part of DC, but aspired to being a writer! He had some job, but wanted to write a book one day and David B was his favorite author! He and I met on a level of writer to writer while his pals just walked away. I hope he wrote his story. LeeAnna, I am sure it touched his heart to have someone actually listen to him! I work in a middle school, and one young man spoke with me about a book he wants to write. I encouraged him to make an outline, etc. and I think of him often – wondering if he has started writing. ~smile~ Roseanne
