IG Honeybee Finished Quilt Tops
All of this calendar year we have been participating in a beehive group called the IG Honeybee. Each month a ‘queen’ asks the beehive participants to make a particular block using her color palette. These blocks have run the gamut but several of them have been the Fizzy block. Three times we have made the block in a variety of colors. All three have utilized black with a white accent, and florals of different sizes have been requested. We’re starting to get very fond of ‘ole Fizzy at this point!
Barbara’s Fizzy Quilt Top
This is Barbara‘s version of her quilt top using the Fizzy blocks (link for the block) she received from her beehive mates. At first, I didn’t even see or recognize our blocks, but there they are in the first row on the right. She grouped similar flower colors together and those circles really POP, don’t you think? The black and white pedals slightly recede to my eyes with the white stars shining brightly. It is just amazing to me that twenty blocks from other quilters can mesh together so nicely. Sweet!
Jen’s Ripples Quilt Top
Jen‘s quilt top that she made for her daughter really inspired us. This quilt top uses the Ripples block that we requested as our October choice. I cannot find our three blocks in this lovely quilt top. Providing continuity is the cacti center block that you barely focus on. Isn’t this just the best?! I’m sharing one of the blocks we made for Jen along with our October block in the same pattern with a link to make your own.
I love the way Jen mixed up the blocks with those corner points coming together seemingly randomly. She may have had a plan but she didn’t mention it and it isn’t obvious like Barbara’s. I’m excited to be able to whip up a quilt top soon. It’s possible it might just be complete for this holiday season. Hmm, that sounds like a November OMG project doesn’t it?! Boom. Mike drop. It was hard to choose only ONE featured photo this month – I love both quilt tops but Fizzy is calling. Neither Barbara or Jen have a blog but each of them has an Instagram account.
Our other Linky Parties can be found by clicking the link above or along the sidebar on our website for more quilting fun – check out what our friends are up to. Like/follow us on our Facebook page and you can share your photos of what you’re working on. We would love to see them!
