It Is New Sewing Table Time!
Not too long along I decided I need a new sewing machine. We visited our local quilt shop, Sew ‘n Save in Racine and they hooked me up with Ellie. Ellie is an Elna eXellence 730Pro and here is a little of all her fun-ness:
I’ve been getting used to her for the past few weeks. She has some really great features, and I haven’t even gotten to try all of her stitches yet. I think I’ve mentioned before that I have been sewing with my machine on a door over some file cabinets. Here is my current setup, extremely cleaned up!!
Old Sewing Table Setup
As you can see, the color of the file cabinets aren’t even the same. I painted one a long time ago. Note: never spray paint on cement. The overspray stays there FOREVER. Ask me how I know. I think that was a sliding closet door that we took off and carefully (sure – HAHA!) painted white. The setup has worked well since 1986-ish with no complaints.
Here is Sue’s setup as the cutting master extraordinaire:
We both enjoy the light yellow on the walls, the two east-facing windows, and the princess pictures on the walls. Sue wants to keep her setup the same because she is happy with it and it works well for her. Okay – I can relent for now, but will continue to work on her. She keeps all our ongoing and upcoming projects organized well.
New Sewing Table Setup
Sew ‘n Save ordered and delivered the new sewing tables. The new tables have drawers to keep us organized. They also have flip up extensions to use when quilting bigger quilt tops. Here are the new tables:
The picture above also shows the new acrylic insert by Sew Steady that makes the sewing surface level and smooth. I am SO looking forward to sewing this way. I think it will make it much easier for quilting, either with the walking foot or free motion. Here is a closeup of the insert in the sewing table:
We are going to have to adjust the overhead lights, and maybe set up the Ott light I have stored somewhere (safe). Since they just released the second I Wish You A Merry QAL block, we will be hitting the grindstone hard soon. ~smile~
