Our Day on the Witchy Stitchy Blog Hop
Lots of our friends have joined together to put some Witchy Stitchy treats together for you. The blog hop started on Monday and runs the whole week with 37 bloggers participating. The full list is below – I hope you can check them out!
Witchy Stitchy Fun
Technically, we didn’t make anything witchy. But definitely stitchy as the quilt I’m sharing with you today was made by about 20 different stitching family and friends. This is a first birthday quilt for Alice with a definite pumpkin theme. I’ll share all the stitchy details in a later post with a photo of the birthday girl with her quilt. Here is the quilt without the baby cuteness, which is okay but definitely not as special.
Stitchy Witchy Details
An all-over leaves pattern was chosen to quilt this beautiful quilt that is all about LOVE. Leaves with swirls to move between leaves worked very well cinching the three layers together. First, a paper and pen test drive was taken – could I stitch this design as well I could picture it in my mind?
Not only could I transfer the design to needle and thread, but I imagined a whole gamut of different varieties of leaves. Oak, Maple, and Ash leaves are represented along with some unnamed types that might be found throughout. Also, a very special design was added just for Alice.
Alice Amelia Stitchy
I wrote Alice’s name with a water-soluble pen in one of the sashing strips. I had to stitch this backward because of the way I had the piece in the sewing machine. That’s trickier than it would seem – try and sew/trace over something written in cursive going from right to left. It’s a bit difficult, don’t you think? As soon as it was stitched, I ran and applied some water to remove the writing! The last thing I wanted to have is blue-hued writing on this special quilt. One last photo of the overall quilt with more to come soon.
Witchy Stitchy Free Pattern
Here’s a free giveaway from last year’s Harvest blog hop called Harvest Blessings Door Hanging. It is hanging on our front door, welcoming friends and family into our home.
With lots of straight-line quilting, it looks nice plus I tried some free-motion quilting of leaves and tendrils. Pumpkins and leaves really do go together, at least in my mind!

That is SO adorable!! The baby would make it more so… ha ha… But I love all the different pumpkins – what a fun quilt!
Love all the fun looking pumpkins!
I love all the different pumpkins and the quilted leaves. I can’t imagine trying to sew a name backwards, but it looks like you nailed it. Great gift.
That is an adorable quilt! Beautiful quilting!

A very pretty pumpkin quilt. I like all the different fabrics. I made one similar this year but smaller. I like the vines you quilted. I will ask my quilter to do some vines.

Those scrappy orange pumpkins are simply yummy!!! I am sure Alice will be a cute little pumpkin with it as well:). Thank you for the pattern and the great post!!❤️❤️
Love your pumpkin quilt, great for the Harvest season!
Roseanne, your pumpkin quilt is adorable! I really want to see it up close and in person to check out all the different ways you pieced the pumpkins. Love this one – and what a fun birthday gift for a little one!
Love this quilt! The quilting motif is really special!
I adore pumpkins!! This is *be*witchingly cute!! 🙂
Such a happy and bright quilt. Love your juicy pumpkins!!!
Jeepers Roseanne! The pumpkin quilt is spectacular but add that amazing FMQ and it’s a winner for sure! You have totally mastered FMQ! Really beautiful!
A gorgeous quilt – front and back! The leaves and the pumpkins are a perfect combination!
Oh I love your pumpkins! So cute. Lucky Alice! Thanks for sharing your door quilt pattern!
Love this, details and all.
Curious, have you ever tried using the backing fabric as a quilting guide for the front? What I mean is, that backing fabric has a swirly pattern that could be quilted with the bottom side up so to speak and would translate to swirls on the front side…
????
What a gorgeous pumpkin quilt — your quilting looks fantastic! I’m sure Alice will love it ♥♥
This is so adorable! Pumpkins are seasonal. I like to make some fall pumpkin quilts for before and after Halloween. May Alice enjoy her cute quilt … 🙂 Pat
This is a beautiful pumpkin quilt, Roseanne, and I know Alice will love it!! I can’t believe she’s one already! My how time flies!!
Alice’s BD quilt i s lovely! Thanks so much for sharing!

Love your pumpkins. Thanks for the pattern.
What a wonderful quilt for a special girl.
It’s such an adorable quilt! Love the different sized pumpkins and your orange fabric collection.
Oh that turned out just super duper my friend!! And now you can quilt leaves in your sleep:)
Cute quilt — now I want to go sew some pumpkins!
I LOVE the patchwork pumpkins and the leaf design you came up with.
What a beautiful quilt for that sweet baby! I’m sure she’ll love looking at all those pumpkins and having her name on it is a great idea. I can barely write cursive front ways, so backwards would really throw my day into havoc. LOL It’s always a joy to have you in my blog hops and in my world! xo
Ah delightful. Love your pumpkins, and your quilting. My quilting is a bit sketchy still, but I just go for it.
What a pumpkin of a quilt! I am sure Alice will look like a real Cinderella in her very own pumpkin patch. Congrats on a great finish! amazing 🎶
The pumpkin quilt is beautiful!
Very pretty quilt. Thank you for the free pattern also. Your work is excellent.
