Road Trip – Quiltessentials in Oshkosh, Wisconsin
On our way to all the quilt shops in the Appleton, Wisconsin area (there are seven!), we stopped at Quiltessentials in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. It is right off of Highway 41 and it is also open early – a win/win in my book. ~smile~ It was well worth the early start – we didn’t have coffee when we hit the road. Becky greeted us with a smile and a friendly hello as soon as we got in the door. She was more than willing to stop cutting some fabrics to ask us if we needed assistance. She also told us about a local area quilt show.
The shop has a great selection of fabrics, notions and patterns. The fabrics are grouped by color and displayed in a very eye appealing way . . . but I forgot to snap a picture of the overall shop. This is where we tested many, many, MANY choices for the nine-patch blocks. We found just the perfect fabric for the stars surrounding the nine-patches and I will share that with you later. It was suggested to us by Becky and it was just perfect. We also found a few other happy looking fabrics that we needed for sure:
The shop also has an area for classes in the back. Becky told me that she worked there only on Saturday, and we discussed having the perfect job. Imagine seeing all the new fabrics and patterns arrive each week. Ooh, it would be hard to not want to take everything home as soon as you saw it.
This model pictured above made me think of Shark Week, with lovely quilting. I didn’t see the name of the pattern but I sure was drawn to the pretty colors in it. This quilt is actually quite close to us. It will definitely be a shop we visit again.
