Things I Love Thursday – Lucky #7
My cup is half full a.k.a., a couple of the things that I love for the week. LeeAnna blogs at Not Afraid of Color and shares her ‘likes’ for the week every Thursday. Read about them and then check out those of our friends. It is rather addictive looking for all the positives once you get started, and you are welcome to join us.
Love #1
Nancy Zieman. It is not like we were good friends or even close, yet I invited her into my life and home for many, many years. We visited her sale in her warehouse, watched her sewing program and learned so much from her. It is sad to think that she has passed, yet she leaves behind a fabulous legacy. Pat Sloan dedicated a block in her quilt along this week to Nancy, and I will be making it this weekend. In case you are interested, in lieu of cards and flowers, the Zieman family suggests donations be made in Nancy’s name to Wisconsin Public Television (https://wptschedule.org/Donate/) or to Hillside Hospice in Beaver Dam, Wis. (https://bdch.com/how-you-can-help).
Love #2
Janet Evanovich released Hardcore Twenty-Four in her Stephanie Plum series on November 14th. Yippee! I love this series and used to RUN to the book store or pre-order it so that it arrived on release day. Now I go to the library’s website and get in the digital line to eventually read it on my eReader. I’m number 490 for 25 copies, so it will be a bit. I will pick up a hardcopy though, probably during Black Friday. I do like to support the author, and still love to turn the pages in a real book. I was at Sam’s on release day but they didn’t have it out yet – darn it!
Love #3
The Murder on the Orient Express movie along with popcorn was a real treat. Kenneth Branagh does a fabulous as Hercule Poirot in the film, and Johnny Depp is also a great bad guy. I would LOVE to go on that train as long as there wasn’t a murder! If enjoying the movie (and popcorn) wasn’t enough, the two older ladies next to us provided oodles of fun. They ‘whispered’ throughout the entire movie, one feel asleep and was snoring although at first she told her friend she was thinking about the plot, and that was after making me switch seats so that they could sit together. After the movie, I brought the walker over to one of them – they were a joy to behold. Sue and I will be those two in the not too distant future. ~smile~
Love #4
Coffee. I love coffee – the taste of it, the smell of it, grinding it, hot or cold, and that it is compostable. It’s all good. Sue would say that it is the creamer that I enjoy the most. But without the coffee to enhance, the creamer would be useless. I drink two 12oz cups at work every day, and on the weekend I enjoy two cups each day with Sue’s mom, Jeanette. I’ve corrupted her to the creamer side . . . apparently she used to drink it black. HAHA! We have a few surprise visitors joining us this Sunday. Jeanette will be so surprised and delighted!
Love #5
I love the school year because it means studying on Friday with Andrea. She usually comes over for dinner. We go over her homework, take a quiz, study, chat, laugh AND hopefully Mr. Cutie boy comes with. Sometimes he stays home with Dad – why??? – or he is at Grandma’s – okayyyyy. When he does come over, I don’t care about eating, studying, or anything else . . . let me see that boy. Oh my goodness, so many firsts to come! One picture to share because every week I love him more and more. I wonder what he’s thinking about?!
That’s all for this week. I seem to have an issue with pictures other than Dominic in these weekly posts. Is that bothersome? Would you prefer a picture to go with each topic?

I enjoyed reading about your favorites and seeing the photo of Dominic! Keep sharing tidbits about your life. I feel like it lets me get to know you a little more overtime. 🙂
Aww, that’s so sweet. Sometimes I think I’m sharing to much of myself but that is who I am, in a way. An open book of sorts. ~smile~ Roseanne
Post as many pictures as you want, as long as some of them are of Dominick. Love watching him grow.
Hi Peggy! Thanks – that seems to be the consensus . . . to a point. I have a REALLY good one for next week! OMG! ~smile~ Roseanne
can’t wait to see it
Keep the pictures of Dominic coming. He is such a beautiful baby. I’m enjoying seeing the changes in him from week to week. I am #10 on 2 copies of Hardcore Twenty-four audiobook. I like to listen to books on my commute to work and back. I get tired of hearing the same songs all the time on the radio. I’m hoping it won’t be too long before it’s my turn for the book.
Hi Cherie,
I haven’t tried the audio books yet and I have an hour commute each way. I don’t want to miss accident reports – not that I could avoid them anyway. #10 sounds a whole lot better than #490! HAHA ~smile~ Roseanne
Mmm… coffee. I don’t drink it, but I love the smell of it, and it’s great mixed with chocolate and makes a wonderful ice cream! We really need to see Murder on the Orient Express. Maybe over the Thanksgiving holiday. Nancy Zieman – I didn’t realize how much of an impact she’s had. I’ve been learning a lot about her over the last day or two. Such a loss.
Hi Sally!
Coffee ice cream is to die for! Oh yum – although I am sure there are some people who do not like it at all. Their loss! ~smile~ Roseanne
I love your pictures of little Dominic! There aren’t any babies in my life so I enjoy any and all wherever I can find them! We are big coffee drinkers at our house. Getting up in the morning and having a fresh cup is always something I appreciate. I will have to try a Janet Evanovich book – I love that genre but haven’t read any by her yet.
Hi Diann,
Well next week’s Thursday is really special if you like Dominic’s pictures. I’ll leave it at that – just a tease. Oh coffee . . . I just had a coworker bring me in a special cup. I am a lucky girl. ~smile~ Roseanne
So many lovely likes and loves…that little darling being the important one! Good to hear you enjoyed the movie…it has gotten a lot of hype. I am already one of those women, LOL. Took me two years to learn to drink coffee black but I still sometimes sneak in a sugar cube. Yes, so sad about Nancy. I can’t believe it really.
Hi Jocelyn,
I started out as a black coffee drinker! Someone corrupted me – I don’t recall who. Maybe at some point I’ll return but why?! I’m glad sharing that boy is fine because I just can’t help myself. HAHA ~smile~ Roseanne
I read a blog called Beatrice Euphemie at (https://beatriceeuphemievintagecottagestyle.blogspot.com/2017/11/a-grandsons-first-birthday.html) and she showed pics of her grandsons birthday. AWESOME. you’d love to see it I know, since your angel is approaching his birthday eventually. LeeAnna
Hi LeeAnna,
Sorry for the delay in a response – your post went into spam. Thank you for sharing the link. I will check it out! Who doesn’t love to see baby pictures, and I have a new appreciation of them now. ~smile~ Roseanne
The movie sounds wonderful but I’ll have to wait until it’s available on DVD or on TV or something. I just can’t hear clearly anymore and need subtitles! Happy stitching!
Hi Gretchen,
Oh, I’m sorry you can’t go to the theatre. It is SO loud that it is often hard to hear, and the screen is so big I often miss something important. I love watching movies at home – I love HOME. I just miss the popcorn, and really it’s not good for you . . . ~smile~ Roseanne
