To-Do #119 Weekly Progress Update
This is the 119th edition of our weekly to-do list. We usually share this post on Beth’s Cooking Up Quilts and at Becca’s What I Made Monday website on Mondays and on Christine’s Stitch All the Things and Dione’s Clever Chameleon website on Tuesdays. Check out what our friends are sharing!
To-Do for the week of July 15th through 21st:
- Trim the remaining Cind-erella HSTs – √ done
Finish thetwo Fizzy blocks – √ ready to be sewn- Find orange fabrics for pumpkin block for sweet Alice – √ done
To-Do #1
Last week, I discovered there are SIX rows of HSTs to trim and I pitched a mini-fit worthy of Dominic (who whimpers or screams NO when he doesn’t like your choice) when I discovered that. Since I was (finally) feeling better, I put my big girl panties on and got them all trimmed. Sewing a few into a trial row may have even happened but don’t tell Addison.
To-Do #2
This month the queen bee in the IG Honeybees group we’re in selected the Fizzy block for us to make. For this month’s blocks, we need to use floral prints, black with white highlights and white-on-white fabrics. Here are the fabrics we chose with the white-on-white fabric in the top right corner.
I had so much trouble tracing the template on the wrong side of the black fabric. Pens in every color didn’t show up, and white chalk did but it was so messy and didn’t trace perfectly. I had to resort to using my rotary cutter which was nerve-wracking. And then the a/c broke and it was HOT in the house. No sewing happened after Monday night . . . it’s a miracle that anything was accomplished this week at all.
The picture on the right is the pitiful picture I took when I couldn’t sew but wanted to be. It looks like I’m a rotary cutter hog, doesn’t it?! A new project with a block similar to Fizzy but a different layout is going to be a squirrely project soon! We cannot wait to start that project.
To-Do #3
Do you remember sweet Alice that was born last October, very close to my birthday? Alice is definitely my birthday buddy. We made her a baby quilt Alice’s Frog and Toad quilt. ♥ ♥ Alice’s mom, Lauren, created a Facebook group to make a quilt for Alice’s birthday. It’s going to be a Pumpkin quilt and the premise is “family coming together with the goal to make a festive birthday quilt for Alice.” Of course, Sue and I are on board to make a few blocks for sweet Alice. Here are the fabrics we selected from our stash for two blocks, although we could easily make a few more. I shared a post with more info last week called Pumpkin Quilt for a little Pumpkin, Alice. We’ve got a few surprises to add to our blocks before we hand them off. More about that later!
July OMG
Our July OMG (one monthly goal) is to quilt and bind our Harley t-shirt quilt. We will link this finished goal on Patty’s Elm Street Quilts website. Visiting the laundromat for a heavy-duty wash and dry has happened. A date is pending for delivery – woot woot.
To-Do for the week of July 22nd through 28th
- Get the a/c fixed on Wednesday the 24th
- Cooler weather with lower humidity arrives today!!
- Finish the July color block
- Finish the beehive blocks
Our other Linky Parties can be found by clicking the link above or along the sidebar on our website for more quilting fun – check out what our friends are up to. Like/follow us on our Facebook page and you can share your photos of what you’re working on. We would love to see them!
I think you are making better progress than I am on all your goals, even with the heat. No surprise there.
Hope the AC is fixed soon! I am like the Hulk when it gets humid. Seriously. It ain’t pretty. As for marking on black fabric have you tried the Chaco marking pen? I keep yellow here for just such a need. I hate havinf a zillion marking pens but this one is a must and it comes in lots of different colors. Another little tip is I use a Magic Eraser to get the chalk markers off my fabric. Obviously test the fabric first, but is has been a real blessing for me so far! have a wonderful (cooler) week!
I am glad the temps broke for you. Hope you get squared away with AC and sewing!
Yay for finishing the HSTs on Cinderella!! 😀 Thanks for linking up to What I Made Monday.
Lovely projects, and those oranges… Yummy! 😍
This was a lovely read about your progress and goals. I have not linked up in awhile because I have been waiting for a new grand baby for a month (we expected him early). He is still not here and a week late. I am sure any goals I set this week will not be achieved.
I love that your grand baby picked her oranges. That quilt will be fun and cute!
OMG you got the Harley quilt all done!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Super duper:)
I got a text from a neighbor who has bags of fabric from an aunt that she wants me to have…I thought of you and Sue as soon as I got that text 🙂
Love your collection of orange fabric
