To-Do #49 Weekly Update
This is our 49th edition of our weekly to-do list. I share this post on Beth’s Cooking Up Quilts website on Monday, and Tuesday’s linky party can be found on Christine’s Stitch All the Things website. ~smile~
To-Do for the week March 12th through March 18th:
- Another row or two of Postcard – √ done
- Continue working on Jigsaw – √ done
- Start hand quilting Bubbles – √ done
- Finish quilting Regatta – √ done
It took me most of the week to get the 16 squares for row 5 trimmed. This is not my favorite step but it is rather satisfying to see that pile of trimmings grow. It turns out that the rotary cutter Sue gave me to use had a dull blade. Once I put in a new one, cutting was SO much easier and quicker. She said she hasn’t replaced the blade in either rotary cutter since we lived in this house. What???!!! We moved here in 2009. <blink, blink> That was one dull blade. Just sayin’. Sew row 5 and 6 are sewn together and pressed. Sue has matched the fabrics for the next six rows – I’d better get BUSY!
I am now buttonholing row 5, and the freshly ironed rows are new residents of the design wall. Look how empty it looks with the ABC finally gone!
Sue had started hand quilting the Bubbles quilt. She search around the house for an appropriate size for circle template and she settled on the ketchup bottle cap. This will take her a bit longer than usual to finish because she is randomly overlapping the circles over the entire quit. I think this is going to end up being one of my absolute favorites! She is using a soft yellow Gutermann thread.
It is time to put a period on our Regatta quilt. Since it is our March OMG goal, it needs to be wrapped up before the 31st. I had stopped quilting with only the white strips to go. A different preprogrammed stitch was used in those rows, and I love how they turned out the best. I’ll share photos at the end of the month when the binding is finished but here is how it looks as I finished the white row quilting:
We made another doll quilt this week and I’ll share more the details on Friday. It does involve some additional FMQ/ruler practice. Here’s a peek:
March OMG Goal:
Our Elm Street Quilts March OMG goal is to square up, layer, quilt and bind the Regatta quilt. Only the binding remains – we should easily make this goal!
To-Do March 19th through 25th:
- Sew the binding on Regatta for a March finish
- At least two more rows for Postcard
- Sew another jigsaw row together
We wish you a week filled with many blessings and good sewing/quilting vibes!
