To-Do Tuesday #64 and Weekly List Update
Join us for the 64th linky party post and the 184th weekly To-Do Tuesday list and update. Gladys Taber wrote, “Contentment is a list with half of it crossed off.”
To-Do for the week of October 20th through 26th:
- Start Alaska Postcards table runner – √ done
- Sew three more International Sister blocks – √ done
- Start sewing nine-patch light-blue blocks – √ done
Later this week we’ll be hosting another linky party for TGIFF – Thank Goodness It’s Finished Friday. The post will go up Thursday afternoon for our down-under friends and anyone else with a finish or almost-finish to share! We’ll be sharing Flower-Power all complete and pretty. ~smile~ Also note worthy, by Friday there are only EIGHT weeks until Christmas and NINE weeks until the new year. Woot woot!
We added an Alaska Postcards table runner to our fourth quarter list recently. The background fabric and separate fabric postcards were picked up the last time we cruised to Alaska with Sue’s parents. Her Dad and I love cruising to Alaska – sitting on the balcony with coffee and cookies, walking around the deck to ensure we get our steps in, checking out the different ports even if we’ve visited them before. We can strong arm Sue and her Mom into going by reminding them there will be NO cooking for a week, and there are trivia games galore along with general fun.
We differ on our opinion about where we found the background fabric and postcards. I think we found them in Juneau, a.k.a. where I petted the Husky pup in the back of the pickup on the way to the quilt shop. Sue thinks we found them in a shop off the beaten path in Ketchikan. Since it has been a number of years AND the receipt has been tossed, who really cares or can determine at this point. We both agree that it’s a cute project and one worthy to finally finish!
Having spent a good portion of the week under-the-weather, I wasn’t sure if any International Sister blocks would be finished. Not that there is an exact deadline for this project other than my own mental one and Sue’s fourth-quarter list determination. By Saturday, after two nights of really good sleep (thank you, Lord!!), I was feeling pretty spunky. Sure, I could sew a few seams!
Here are our 16 International Sister blocks on the design wall so far. While not in their final layout yet, it has given me an idea of just what size the finished 25 blocks will be. Once we have a quilt top pieced together we’re going to have a giveaway to keep the Pretti-tradition going, but more about that later. (I hope she likes having a ‘tradition’ named after her!)
Ahh, the little light-blue nine-patch blocks. They are just the perfect filler as a leader/ender piecing project that gets finished almost by accident. Right?! They were handy to have at the ready when working on the Sister blocks above.
There are about 11 of the 31 nine-patch blocks complete plus a few partial blocks. Alternating with these are some charm squares for the coordinating fabric line. When complete, this will be a mirror image of the dark-blue batik baby quilt we made earlier this year.
We are going to finish off our Flower Power table runner as our October One Monthly Goal project. Our thanks go to Patty at Elm Street Quilts for hosting this monthly linky party. This will definitely be finished this month! We just need the monsoon rain to stop for some photos.
