To-Do Tuesday Edition #14
The 14th edition of our to-do list is presented today. I think we did okay this week:
To-Do Tuesday for the week July 11th – July 17th:
- Visit my brother after his surgery – √ best time ever 🙂
- Take lesson for new sewing machine – √
- Sew block #3 in the QAL – √
- Work on surprise baby quilt –√
- Border and quilt the birth announcement – nope, ran out of time
- Research this quilt request – bear, eagle, wolf, deer – √ found fabrics!
We spent a few days visiting with my brother and sister-in-law. It’s always nice to catch up with them and spend time chatting and laughing. My brother is doing great and I am so thankful to have visited him and see how he looked after surgery with my own eyes. I am lucky! Oh, and they have one of the best quilt shops in their city. I’ll be happy to share this info with you soon and can’t wait to visit again.
We took a sewing lesson one afternoon to learn all about our new sewing machine by Elna. It’s an eXellence 730Pro and I discussed it earlier in this post and we named her Ellie. Holy moly it has a lot of bells and whistles. Thankfully, Sue took great notes for us to use. I’m definitely a hands-on learner.
The third block in the Pat Sloan’s quilt along called Grandma’s Kitchen is all finished. This one was challenging for me – I ripped out the block more than once. ~smile~ I managed to sew the row with HSTs incorrectly – note, they are in EVERY row. So, yeah. It took me a while to get the block together. Oh well.
We are trying to use that beige fabric in the middle block to tie them all together. It remains to be seen if we can manage that. ~smile~
#4 and #5 – Shouldn’t have been on the list!
We have started a surprise baby quilt but I cannot share the details for obvious reasons. So, we’re going to work on this behind the scenes and share it when it is complete. Umm, we did not get to adding borders to the birth announcement for Baby J. Time just ran out. Thankfully it doesn’t need to be, nor can it be, completed until the baby is born. Phew! Pressure is off.
We received another request for our fifth queen size quilt of this year. We were given a fairly specific drawing:
As I mentioned last week, we didn’t really have bear, eagle, wolves or deer fabric in our stash. Luckily, we went to visit my brother as we found all the fabric at the quilt shop in their city. I’ll share more details soon – but here is a sneak peek:
To-Do Tuesday starting July 18th:
- Sew block #4 in the QAL
- Make more mug rugs and microwave cozies for the shower – more RSVPs came in that we expected to be NOs
- Host the shower and recover . . . yup, that’s all I’ve got for next week 🙂
I’ll give you an update on these projects next Tuesday, July 25th. ~smile~
