To-Do Tuesday Edition #17
Here is our 17th edition of our to-do list. This is still our biggest motivation for the week. ~smile~ I think we rocked it out . . .
To-Do Tuesday for the week August 1st – August 7th:
- Finish up the pinwheel rail fence – √ done
- Start the animal quilt for T&J – √ done
- Start a new project – √ done
- Sew block #6 in the QAL and start a new Christmas QAL – √ done
The pinwheel rail fence quilt had ten rows together last week. That meant only four rows to go and that the sewing the strip sets was coming to an end. We did ask Corner to Corner if they had time to quilt this for us. They said YES so the quilt top was dropped off yesterday. ~smile~
I have a hard time getting the lightest blue to look blue, so Sue stuck a white sock on the edge of the photo. Thank heavens Tide actually got my sock clean – it seems to only get clean clothes clean – so you can kind of see it is a light blue. Very weird.
We decided on the layout for the animal quilt. It is similar to the Clark quilt, with all the action happening in the center surrounded by three borders. We are using all the fabrics we picked up in Effingham at The Wooden Spool. We set a deadline to complete this quilt top this past weekend, and we did complete it. It was also dropped off yesterday.
I think the bear looks almost as good as the wolf. Full article coming soon. ~smile~ Tom reads the blog and I don’t want him to see his quilt before it is all finished.
We did start a new project. It’s a jigsaw puzzle baby quilt. It is rather labor intensive, at least the setup. We used two charm packs called My ABC Book by Darlene Zimmerman. While the pattern only calls for 63 – 5″ squares, we had to use an additional fabric piece for the lightbulb-shaped piece to complete the jigsaw puzzle piece. Here is a sneak peek:
Here is the sixth block in the Pat Sloan’s quilt along called Grandma’s Kitchen. For some reason, this block finishes at 10″ instead of matching all the others at 12″. Yup, that might bother me . . . big time . . .
I Wish You a Merry Quilt-Along started on August 1st. The link I shared is to their Facebook page, where links to the current block is posted along with many participants sharing their finished block. It turns out we know at least two of our blog friends are participating, too. That makes it more fun! ~smile~
Extra finish – we quilted in a diagonal pattern and sewed the binding/hangers on the birth announcement. Can’t share that because, well, the baby’s not born yet so it’s technically not complete.
To-Do Tuesday starting August 8th:
- Start sewing the jigsaw puzzle baby quilt
- Sew block #7 in the Grandma’s Kitchen QAL
- Start a new baby quilt using a pattern called Leftovers by Modern Quilt Relish
- Maybe sew a bit on the second ABC quilt so it gets off the design wall
