Tuesday afternoon the new sewing tables came and we are trying them out. One table had a hole for Ellie to fit in, with an acrylic inset. I now can sew on a flat surface. It’s fabulous but very different. I was used to the sewing machine and its button being higher so I feel very tall sitting in front of it now. Here is what it looked like right after delivery – before I could mess anything up!

This week’s block is called Grandma’s Apron, for obvious reasons:
This time I did use the appliqué stitch on Ellie. I didn’t change the default settings for the blanket stitch at all, and I am happy with how it turned out.

Okay, I admit it. I am not a paper piecer nor do I enjoy making a template. Give me a ruler and rotary cuter every time. So we went out and purchased the Tri Recs ruler by EZ Quilting to make these cute Christmas trees. This is the second block in the I Wish You A Merry QAL:

This baby quilt came together very quickly. It was also fun to sew! Between the cute Confetti background fabric and the pretty fat quarters, it was interesting to see how the strips ended up. It is very lineal so it is begging to be quilted in a grid pattern. That’s up next-ish (Love You to the Moon got to the top of the list since we’re having a baby SOON!). I have to write a post about exploits on getting these strips made for this quilt . . . you won’t believe it!

Gee, I’m not sure why I didn’t say “Sew” Sissy’s topper and runner instead of going right to “Quilt.” But since we were making them from HSTs, they came together quickly.
I got a chance to start quilting the table topper using my walking foot. It is the first time I’ve quilted anything on the new sewing machine in the level table. Wowee – does that make a difference. We still need to layer and quilt the table runner, and bind both.
A little extra – we got “Big Blue” a.k.a. the Pinwheel Rail Fence quilt back from Corner to Corner who quilted it. I got a chance to add the binding, and we’re tacking it down. ~smile~
To-Do Tuesday starting August 22nd:
- Sew block #9 in the Grandma’s Kitchen QAL
- Quilt Love You to the Moon baby quilt – it will be needed soon
- Quilt the Confetti quilt
- Quilt and bind Sissy’s table topper and runner
- Start sewing a princess baby quilt

Wow, you two were sure busy this week! Love the new sewing tables. I’d love to have my machine inset into a table one of these days. The confetti quilt is so fun, and I love the Grandma’s apron block. The Christmas tree blocks turned out great too. I don’t mind paper piecing, but when it’s faster to use a rotary cutter and ruler, I’m all for that!!
Hi Christine! You are so sweet! The sewing tables are great . . . I can’t believe how much easier it is to quilt with it all flat. I was working on the confetti quilt and it is so much faster. No wrinkles on the back at all! ~smile~ Roseanne
Busy, busy, busy…you did good on your to-do list: Four out of five. I am loving your Grandma’s Apron block and the Christmas tree block. I do not know how you do it all.
Hi Peggy! You get as much done as we do – we just don’t see your list. ~smile~ Roseanne
LOL…you also do not see my mistakes that I hide in the closet.

You had a very productive week, love all the sewing action. The table looks fab, I bought one last year but didn’t come with the acrylic inset, it was going to be extra and I’ve never got around to doing that, but some day.
Hi Kathryn,
I feel like a sloth this week – no sewing going on with all the back-to-school stuff. i don’t know what I was thinking?!! I haven’t had a flat surface to sew on since I was in middle school – or thereabouts. ~smile~ Roseanne
