To-Do Tuesday Edition 2
What’s under your needle? Here is last week’s list along with this week’s Tuesday To-Do list:
To-do Tuesday from April 18th:
Complete the purple woven quilt top Send it off for long-arm quilting
- Begin sewing blue/gray quilt
- Continue sewing strips for 16-patch blocks
- Add sashing to ABC wall hanging #1
To-Do Tuesday for April 25th:
- Continue sewing strips together for blue/gray quilt
- Continue sewing strips together for 16-patch blocks
- Add sashing to ABC blocks
Yup, one purple woven quilt top complete. Fifty-six blocks made – check; seven blocks sewed together = one row – check; eight rows sewn together – check. We even decided to add a border. Once it was complete we took it to the long-arm quilter for quilting. We’ll give you an update in a few weeks. Woohoo! Here’s a sneak peek of the border – we had chosen a batik for the first version of this quilt and we were still able to use it because it matched well enough:
Our new list is much shorter. Up next is the blue/gray quilt, another queen size quilt. Sue has started cutting up the fabric. As I mentioned last week, we chose two Moda Fabrics: one is called Ombre Graphite and the other is a blue-hued Shirbori. The pattern is called Jimmy John, and we are using the gray ombre fabric as the background (or the white in their pattern). I showed a few of the cut strips of the ombre in this article as well as a link to the pattern, if you want a peak at those. Here is a picture from the JJ pattern:
We’re still working on the 16-patch and framed 4-patch quilt. I just about have all the strips sewed together in sets of four. Sue will then cut them for me and I get them back together into their sets of 16. It takes 18 of these blocks added to the already complete 17 framed blocks. Once those are complete we can start piecing the quilt top and before you know it I’ll be quilting away. ~smile~ You can see a sample of the strips in the header picture of today’s post.
Our last to-do Tuesday project is the first of the ABC quilts for our Etsy shop (found here). All the A-B-Cs have been hand appliquéd – I am almost done with the next set for the second wall hanging. I still haven’t started on adding the sashing to each letter and then the rows can start to be formed. It’s hanging cutely on the project wall, waiting patiently for its turn to be worked on.
I’ll give you an update on these projects next Tuesday, May 2nd (can you believe it’s going to be May already?)! I’m linking up with To-Do-Tuesdays, Linky Tuesday, WOW Wednesdays, My Quilt Infatuation, and Finished or Not Friday.
