To-Do Tuesday Linky #35 & Weekly Progress Update
Join us for the 35th linky party post and the 155th weekly to-do list. Thanks to everyone who linked up with us last week. “Contentment is a list with half of it crossed off,” wrote Gladys Taber.
To-Do for the week of March 31st through April 6th:
- The Flower Garden block – √ done
- Layout the t-shirts for Sydney’s quilt – √ done
- Figure out the April OMG – √ done
To-Do #1
Melva released The Flower Garden block sometime during the never-ending month of March. Actually, on the 26th, you have the choice of making a paper-pieced or an embroidery block. We went the embroidery route – I drew the cluster and Sue embroidered it. Here is our version of The Flower Garden along with how the colors look with two of the earlier blocks.
To-Do #2
We’ve made a little progress on the t-shirt quilt for Sydney. She’s a senior in high school and will be heading off to college in a few short months . . . in Wisconsin, no less! We know just how chilly it can get in this state and we want her to snuggle and be comfy. Here is a shot of the initial layout and one to check for color density.
While picking up each row we decided to swap row four with row five. It remains to be seen if I can actually get them sewn in this order!
To-Do #3
Thankfully, Patty hosts a monthly linky party. The inspiration behind her party is to motivate everyone to select one single goal to focus on for the month. We will piece the hexagon baby quilt by the end of this month as our April OMG.
April OMG
Thank you to Patty’s at Elm Street Quilts and her linky party. We will be piecing these hexagon shapes into a nifty baby quilt as our goal. If I can figure out how to quilt this, that may happen.
To-Do for the week of April 7th through 13th:
Finally! An end to March – this has been a very long month.
- Make a few masks for Andrea – finally!
- Quilt a cute growth chart
- Do something else – I just don’t know what?!!
Here is the linkup and just a few easy rules to follow:
- Share your post or Instagram photo in the linky tool (but don’t share a link to your own linky party or giveaway)
- Please point your readers back here with a text link or use the button from the right sidebar
- Also, please visit and comment on other participants’ messages as time allows
You will find the link-ups displayed on a separate screen. I hope you check them out and/or add your own link!
The Linky Parties we join can be found by clicking the link above or along the sidebar on our website for more quilting fun – check out what our friends are up to. Like/follow us on our Facebook page and you can share your photos of what you’re working on. We would love to see them!
You had great projects here. I’m going to be looking for that t-shirt quilt to see how it turned out.
Nice to get several things done and projects moved ahead. By any chance are you cutting your hexagons using the AccuQuilt half hexie die? What you’ve done so far looks great.
I’m so behind! I’m happy to see the link is still up! Your t-shirt quilt is coming along! Sue’s embroidery is lovely! Happy Easter!
I have joined your very inspiring Pieces of the Past QAL! What fun it will be! Your hexagon quilt is lovely! Your third goal made me smile…..
Such pretty embroidery! And there’s that hexagon quilt again…calling me…. gotta focus though this week!
What a gorgeous embroidery!!! I wish I had the patience.
Hello Roseanne, My oh My you are certainly staying fairly busy with all of these fun and brilliant quilt projects. Sue, I am in love with your spectacular hand embroidered floral block. It is done beautifully! I may one day actually get one of my dozen projects finished. LOL. I always look forward to seeing your posts. Keep up the great work and progress! Plus, have a fabulous day!
I like that you showed a picture in black and white for the value balance. Is that the final layout?
I can see that the blah’s have not completely departed your house. But such beautiful embroidery and the progress on the t-shirt quilt looks wonderful. I hope the “possibilities” bring you some real smiles.
That flower garden embroidery block is gorgeous! And I love the rustic fabric you’re using for the hexagon quilt. Fun stuff!
Lots of great shares in the linkup this week. Congrats on your finishes. Thank you for the linky party.
So true about sewing things the way they are planned. Last time I was doing this I took a photo, printed it and hung it right about where I was sewing so I could check…it worked. Look forward to seeing #3. OH and for masks, check out Pretty Piney’s hint about the pleating board…its worth it. Printed one (and I’ll send you the template on a file folder and scored just with back of seam ripper…game changer!!!!!).
Love your 3rd goal for this week, LOL I should use that one more often!!!
Sydney’s t shirt quilt is coming along nicely! Good idea doing the color density photo — do you use your phone camera or computer software? Inquiring minds want to know….
Just my photo – I change the setting to black and white . . .
Looks like the t-shirt quilt is coming right along! I bet Sydney will love it. And the baby quilt looks like it’s going to be amazing, too. Have you started sewing those half hexagons together? I would love to hear any pointers you’ve found for keeping them straight with each other as you sew!
Well, look at you go! Meanwhile, over here . . . Anyhoo, your list for the coming week looks good. I’m particularly excited about #3 – oh the possibilities!
A completely checked off to do list is a nice outcome for the week. Good luck with this week’s list. Happy stitching.
Great progress on your WIP. Your hexagon baby quilt is beautiful!
