To-Do Tuesday Linky #53 & Weekly Progress Update
Join us for the 53rd linky party post and the 173rd weekly to-do list. Thanks to everyone who linked up with us last week. Gladys Taber wrote, “Contentment is a list with half of it crossed off.”
I hope there are no issues today! WordPress is making some sort of BIG upgrade/change today, and I’m at work which is nuts . . . so prayers that this post goes off without a hitch. I’m technically asleep at midnight CST – go figure – and don’t check it at 4:30 a.m. when I get up. My fingers are crossed along with my eyes and legs . . .
To-Do for the week of August 4th through 10th:
- Layer Dominic’s quilt – √ done
- Start sewing flying geese – √ done
- Sew a tote bag (!!) – √ done
- **Note to self: don’t forget about the snowman runner
It sure is handy to have a large island in our kitchen which we always use for layering quilts. Layering up the truck quilt was no different and even then it was wider so the sides did hang over the edges of the island.
I was planning on adding a special quilting pattern in the sashing strip areas but Sue vetoed that, so we are going with a basic crosshatch. You will also notice the Grunge-ish border added at the bottom of the photo above. Did I stop at just layering for the week? Heck no! I got a few lines of the aforementioned crosshatching started and even shared this picture on IG on Saturday. Woot woot! Overachiever.
Red, white, and blue (or natural) fabrics have been cut and stacked, awaiting production sewing. I noticed that there was going to be a large potential HST cut off, so I sewed an extra seam. As I was trimming the geese, I acquired a nice little stack of something for a future project. Do you ever do that? I hated to waste those HSTs! I’ll trim them up to a 2.5″ size . . . I’m seeing a pinwheel of some sort. By-the-by, we don’t usually make FG this way but we’re ‘following’ a pattern. We’re both rule followers to the max.
We sewed a tote bag in record time and I shared the post about it last Friday. I am so tickled to have found a fabulous use for the block a friend made. Didn’t it turn out great? Next to it is the inspiration tote bag that had to be replicated as closely as possible. Pleased as punch with this project . . . in case you couldn’t tell. I’ve already shown it off at work to rave reviews.
Thank you to Patty’s at Elm Street Quilts and her monthly linky party. As mentioned earlier, Dominic’s big boy bed truck quilt is going to be our focus. We will add borders (done), layer (done), quilt (started!), and add binding this month.
To-Do for the week of August 11th through 17th:
Startcontinue quilting the truck quilt
- Work on the next block in Pieces From the Past sew-along
- Move the snowman runner along so it’s not forgotten
- **Note to self: don’t forget the red/white/blue runner on the design wall!
Here is the linkup and just a few easy rules to follow:
- Share your post or Instagram photo in the linky tool
- Don’t share a link to your own linky party or giveaway or promotion for your newest pattern release – I didn’t think I’d have to say this but apparently, I do!
- Please point your readers back here with a text link or use the button from the right sidebar
- Also, please visit and comment on other participants’ messages as time allows
You will find the link-ups displayed on a separate screen. I hope you check them out and/or add your own link! I’m looking forward to seeing what everyone else has made this week and hopefully finding some inspiration.
The Linky Parties we join can be found by clicking the link above or along the sidebar on our website for more quilting fun – check out what our friends are up to. Like/follow us on our Facebook page and you can share your photos of what you’re working on. We would love to see them!
