Tummy Time – Playing Tag Quilt Tutorial
A friend of mine recently shared her finished quilt that she called Tummy Time. She used a free pattern called Playing Tag from the website All People Quilt. I thought it turned out so cute that I should share it with you. I asked Judy if I could share her finished pictures with you and she said yes. If you would like to see more about Judy and her quilting talent, here is her website link.

There are little tags on rickrack for the baby to poke and pull on. It is kind of hard to see in this photo but here is a closeup of one of Judy’s blocks that show them better:

Here is the Playing Tag version of the quilt.
The baby is adorable, and there are additional toys on top of this quilt but I think you can see some of the tags. Both of these quilts are made with very cute fabrics. I am very partial to Judy’s version – I love red! Both offer polka dots and Judy’s has little hearts – well it’s not a contest but I wouldn’t think it was the same pattern.
The squares finish off at 9″. The Playing Tag quilt measures 36.5″ square while Judy’s Tummy Time measures 40″ because she added an additional border. This quilt is fat quarter friendly as it requires only 10 different fabric choices. The tags are made from 1/2 yard ribbon or rickrack from six assorted trims. Add your backing and binding and this quilt will go together very quickly.
Have you made this quilt pattern? Does it intrigue you to make one? We would love to hear about it. ~smile~

Wow, I do love this! Never thought to add the tactile elements!
Hi Debbie – I totally agree. I’m so glad Judy made it because now I definitely need to make one too. Thank you so much for your comment and stopping by! Please come again. ~smile~ Roseanne
Thanks for the “plug”. I am so anxious to see if my newest great granddaughter likes it!. She is arriving in August!
Hi Judy! Aww, that is SO sweet. We are expecting too – late August or early September. Gender unknown but a great-niece or -nephew. I am 100% certain we NEED to make this, and that your GGD will love it. She will feel all the love in every stitch. ~smile~ Roseanne
What a Smart idea to add the taggies! This is so cute.
Hi Tonya! I know, isn’t that clever?! Can’t you just see those little fingers reaching or picking at the tags? ~smile~ Roseanne
