Tutorial – Awesome Lap Quilt Is Awesome
Happy Labor Day to our USA friends!
It’s Monday so it’s time to share another tutorial. This is a lap size quilt called Awesome. Jamie Mueller wrote this tutorial, and it was shared in the Moda Bake Shop recently. What is so awesome about this pattern? It uses up a jelly roll!
Awesome Jelly Roll Use
I’ll bet you have a jelly roll hanging around that you’re saving. Saving because it is really cute; saving because it deserves a ‘special’ project; or saving for that AWESOME pattern. I would say this just might be THE one. Maybe?! Here’s the dets:
1 – jelly roll
3 – yards for backing
That’s it! A jelly roll and backing. The binding even is made from a few jelly roll strips. Let’s take a look at the first cutting instructions:
In addition to the cuts above, you will also be cutting a few strips into shorter strips to make strip sets. A strip set will then be paired with three of the blocks made above:
As we look at the finished quilt again, we can see that the blocks are set to the right in the first row. Then they are moved to the middle in the second, and to the very left in the third row. The same row placement is repeated for a total of nine rows (or three sets).
In conclusion, the Awesome lap quilt measures 48″ x 55″ and Jamie deems this pattern “easy.” I certainly agree. You could very easily make this in a variety of fabric patterns. The Fall theme pictured is lovely, but I could see this in shades of blues or greens. Well, just about anything. What do you think? Are you game to give this tutorial a try?
