Tutorial – Jenna Quilt Tutorial
Here’s another tutorial from 2010 that we are sharing today. We weren’t into blogging back in 2010. In fact, I didn’t even know they existed then so we missed a whole bunch of quilt goodness. This tutorial was shared by Lisa on her blog, Shiners View. “Jenna” isn’t really the name of this quilt, but it doesn’t appear to have one. I couldn’t think of a good name and who am I to name someone else’s quilt! You will find this pattern to be fat-quarter friendly.
Jenna Quilt Highlights
This is a rather simple pattern, with a 7.5″ square surrounded by sashing and smaller squares. Here is the basic block layout for this quilt along with one finished sample block. More exact details are found on Lisa’s link above:
Once you have all your blocks made, here is the layout with sashing added to the long right and the bottom edges to complete the sashing all around. The added sashing is represented in light blue in this layout photo:
One last picture is of Lisa’s finished quilt. You can see she added an additional pieced scrappy border which looks really nice.
More recently, Sarah made her second rendition of this quilt:
I saw the finished quilt on Sarah’s blog and she had shared a link back to Lisa’s tutorial. Since the large blocks are 7.5″, don’t you think this would make a great quilt featuring some special fabric? Especially with bigger items that can be surrounded with similar-themed smaller blocks. I am also enjoying that both of these quilts are using background fabrics other than white, beige, or gray! I apologize to Sarah – I seem to have lost the link to her blog. I will correct that as soon as I am able to.
