Up From Here Winning Layout
Last week, we took a little poll about which layout to use for our Up From Here quilt. In case you missed the informal vote, we laid out the four blocks in three different formats.
The two layouts above did not win in the voting. I wasn’t real wild about the brown plus symbol, but did kind of like the green frame. Oh well, the best layout won!
Up From Here Layout
Winner, winner chicken dinner! Just like the pattern, the layout that matched the original pattern was the informal winner. It will be quite easy to sew the two seams needed to make these blocks into a flimsy. The worst part will be pressing the seams open – ouch to that darn steam iron. Then it will be time to quilt it.
Up From Here Quilting
I did a little scoping around to see how this might be quilted. Two of our friends have completed their quilt with a stippling design. I have been thinking about using that along with some feathers in the arrow or solid colored portions. What do you think about that idea? Hmm, my skills aren’t that great. I don’t know if I can transition smoothly from stippling to feathers to stippling again. I think I need to get that piece of plexiglass to try out quilt designs. Where does one get plexiglass anyway?? This project also needs to get itself back on the weekly To-Do list!
Our other Linky Parties can be found by clicking the link or along the sidebar on our website for more quilting fun – check out what our friends are up to. Like/follow us on our Facebook page and you can share your photos of what you’re working on. We would love to see them!
