Update #4 – Regatta Quilt Sew Along
Here’s another update on the Regatta Quilt sew along and this is the second to last update. I’ll do one more at in the summer as a final ‘last call’ of sorts. This is a no-pressure sew along with no prizes and no real end date. The original pattern is from Daniela at Block M Quilts. Just click on the picture of the quilt directions in the link and you’ll be able to print out a .pdf. Here are the two colorways that Daniela has chosen for her quilts, and what originally inspired me to make my own:
Below, I’ve shared a few new photos that our participants have shared on their blog, Facebook, or Instagram. I was stalking everyone’s website and IG to find them all. I apologize if I missed yours! Don’t you love seeing such diversity? Can you pick a favorite? Or are you like me and love them all?

Our Regatta Update:
This is a no-rush, no-stress sew along is just the best!! I had to give ourselves a deadline though, and I made it our March OMG (one-monthly-goal). One Saturday morning, we layered it up with some Warm and Natural batting. I found a nice a wide backing at Joann’s called Oil Slick. We thought it looked like water, and the colors matched perfectly. I set the Elna sewing machine to a wavy ~~ stitch and quilted all the colored strips. It wasn’t quite what I had in mind, but I wasn’t going to rip it out either. For the white strips, I chose a different stitch. A much longer, spread out wave. That’s what I envisioned for the entire quilt, darn it. Here’s a shot of those stitches – our finish will be shared next week for the OMG monthly finish post.
Have you picked a favorite? I love, love, LOVE all the creativity displayed in all of these quilts. We chose fabric very close to Daniela’s but all the different choices draw me in. For those of you who participated or are still working on the quilt, would you make another? Just curious! I will plan another check in/update for sometime during June or July. Maybe. No rush, no stress! ~smile~ I am thinking of offering another no-stress sew along this summer. Anyone interested in doing another one? I’m auditioning some patterns now or taking suggestions.
