Sew block #21 in the Grandma’s Kitchen QAL
- Evening Star has to be wrapped up this week – √ done
- Appliqué outer border for January table runner – √ done
Oh my goodness, we had a very wonderful Thanksgiving. We tried some new-to-us wine called white Pinot Noir which was delicious. After a new snacks, the main event of turkey, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, gravy, stuffing, green bean casserole and more was set out. Everything was delicious, everyone was chatting, the Lions were losing to the Vikings and it was fabulous. I was finally able to get a picture of grandma, Dominic and her baby quilt for him that was complete ages ago (Love You to the Moon). We even snuck in a shot of great-grandpa Tom. ~smile~
Need I say anything here?! Yes indeed, we enjoyed the heck out of him. Since I already shared one picture of him . . . and this isn’t the all-about-Dominic blog, I’ll restrain myself. Let me suffice it to say it wasn’t enough time though . . . never enough time. I got to hold him ALL Thanksgiving night – 4:30 to 10:30pm. Big ~smile~
Nope. We are not doing any more blocks for this QAL. Block #21 is a Telephone, block #22 is Pick a Posey, and neither of them strike a memory for me of anyone. So, we’ll put the 20 blocks we have complete together and leave it at that.
Evening Star blocks are all complete! Yippee skippy. Here is the layout we went with, and the quilt top flimsy will be ready to share in a November one-monthly goal post. Now to figure out how to quilt it . . . I don’t have a clue. I’ll have to look around and see how stars are usually featured with quilting!
I was able to appliqué several blocks for the January table runner. I shared this picture on our Facebook website to give you an idea of what the border blocks look like. It also gives you an idea of the table runner itself, with snowmen and snowflakes. (Vicki, I thought of you and your snowmen!) I’m not sure I want to know how many of them I have to complete . . .
I put this quilt top together for Sue who is going to do some special quilting touches using the embroidery sewing machine. This was a photo to check the layout of the fabric squares – several needed to be and were moved around before sewing commenced. I also started on the background blocks for the snowmen shown in #5 above.
November OMG Goal:
- Complete the Evening Star quilt top – all 20 blocks sewn together! Post will be shared on November 30th – woohoo!
To-Do November 27th through December 3rd:
- Evening Star flimsy all complete with borders
- Continue to appliqué outer border blocks for January table runner
- Start appliqué on the pillow sham nautical images
