Weeks 3 & 4 Hidden Stars SAL
Stars in a quilt?! Count me in – we love stars, especially or even hidden ones. Sherry from Powered by Quilting is the hostess for this sew along. With postings every other week, the SAL is tentatively scheduled to end mid-March. We’ve set this as a first quarter goal, which may and should be possible, to have a quilt top.
Week Three of Hidden
January 22nd we received the next directions in the sew along. Behind us was selecting our fabrics along with cutting and labeling. I am so thankful to have Sue keeping me on task for those two steps. I admit it – I am a shortcut taker. Labeling may happen now and then, but not to the extent that Sherry recommends. Perhaps that is why I have a good relationship with Mr. Ripper?!
Sherry shared some great tips on the sewing of these corner blocks. She even shared a video on her Facebook page! How sweet and cool is that?!
Week Four of Hidden
Chain piecing is recommended, and that is one of my favorite things. Nothing like zip, zip, zipping those seams together. Sherry’s only recommendation is to do all of the Block A pieces together before starting on the Block B ones. Hmm. That not only sounds like a good idea, but perhaps she is speaking from experience. Once you mix up those pieces, and without their labels?! Well, what’s to say which is A or B? In this case, I listened well. We are left with these cute little piles, awaiting the next instructions.
Lastly, Sherry even shared pressing directions! Woot woot. There is a Facebook page for sharing updates. Additionally, there is a hashtag on social media of #PBQHiddenStarsSAL if you’d like to check on the progress. This is week four. A.k.a., in just a few days Sherry will have more instructions and tips for us. Yippee!
