Work Hard Pray Long Trust God
Sue’s last day of school with students was last Friday, but she had to go in on Monday for Records Day. That is an antiquated idea since report cards are done online these days. There are no ‘records’ to update, no contract to enforce it so why bother?! Anyway, to get on topic . . . she wanted to give a coworker a small remembrance. Sue made this wall hanging that says “Work Hard Pray Long Trust God.” We both think those are words to live by.
Work Hard Wall Hanging
Sue stitched this saying on some 32 count linen cross stitch fabric we had on hand. The finished size is about 8″ x 10″, and it was stitched over two threads in a variety of colors. Once Sue was finished stitching I took over to add the borders. We had some blue fabric on hand that matched one of the thread colors closely. We selected that for the borders, binding and hangers.

This was another chance to combine our two loves of quilting and cross stitch. We layered up the cross stitched piece, batting and a backing. I did a quick stitch in the ditch around the borders, as it doesn’t need extensive quilting for just a wall hanging. I then sewed the hangers, flipped them right-side-out and attached them with the binding. Sue then took over to hand stitch down the binding.
We hope this finds a good home with Sara, and we hope she enjoys it. It was made especially for her. Sue may not return to her school next year after 30 years working it the same building, so she wanted something special for a friend.
