April OMG Finished – Second Animal Panel Quilt
We have been linking up with Patty at Elm Street Quilts for her monthly Elm Street Quilts April OMG. This month our goal was to quilt and bind the second animal panel quilt. This project also happens to be on our PHD list of UFOs, so that makes this finish a two-fer. Yippee.
Second Animal Panel
We picked up two panels while visiting a quilt shop in Arizona. We thought they were two panels of eight different animals but instead they were the same animals in two different colorways. Oops! So we made one for Dominic and GG. I know – shock! If you want to see how that one turned out, here is a link to the October post. This second panel was all sewn together and ready for quilting back then as well. But instead it turned in to a UFO, joining our PHD list at the end of the year.
Since this quilt was all layered, it was fairly easy to say we would complete it for our April goal. One Saturday I quilted half of it diagonally about one inch apart. Next was to repeat the process in the opposite direction as the picture on the right reflects. Dominic loves to try to pick up those little diamonds!
We picked this cute backing which reflects a puppy and all of his favorite colors and activities. Along with the color word is also a picture, like a blue bird, grey elephant or a red bicycle. There are so many things to point out to the youngster who gets to enjoy this quilt. This quilt ended up being 42″ x 49″ after we added a navy border and binding. We will be adding this to our Etsy shop unless someone claims it before then.
