Beginning Hidden Stars SAL
Stars in a quilt?! Count me in – we love stars, especially or even hidden ones. Sherry from Powered by Quilting is the hostess for this sew along. With postings every other week, the SAL is tentatively scheduled to end mid-March. We’ve set a first quarter goal, which may and should be possible, to have a quilt top.
Week One of Hidden
January 8th was the start of the SAL. Our first task was to pick up fabrics, which we aced in my opinion. We picked up a fat eighth bundle of Zen Chic Spotted. From the bundle, we only needed to pick 16 colors.
That was tricky enough, but we managed it somehow. Someone had to do it – took one for the team! Handily, that left some pretties for Jan’s blocks for the first Bee Hive group we joined. There may still be a few selections with unknown destinations.
Week Two of Hidden
Our next task is to start cutting, and labeling. Sherry’s pattern has several different sizes, but we chose the baby sized quilt. There are two different blocks, A and B, and they alternate throughout the layout.
Here is a shot of our cutely labeled piles, awaiting weeks three and four. Also, the first few pieces needed for Block A. There is a Facebook page for sharing updates. Additionally, there is a hashtag on social media of #HiddenStarsSAL if you’d like to check on the progress. TODAY is week three. A.k.a., time to start sewing the blocks, and Sherry will have more tips for us. Yippee!
Our other Linky Parties can be found by clicking the link above or along the sidebar on our website for more quilting fun – check out what our friends are up to. Like/follow us on our Facebook page and you can share your photos of what you’re working on. We would love to see them!
