Connections with Folks You Never Meet?
I think I’ve mentioned before that I follow a lot of different types of blogs or websites, and videos on Youtube. Do you follow anyone or am I the odd person out? Anyway, I’ve noticed that there are some people that I just make a connection with, and occasionally it goes beyond the blog/website.
I used to host a Yahoo group back in the 90s. Eventually we took the group to Facebook where it slowly died, but I have kept a connection with several from the group. I’ve even had one to my house and met another in Las Vegas for a 5k walk, and yet another I think of nearly every day as she has struck out as an artist. I follow Sally at http://sallysbakingaddiction.com/ and her two pups Jude and Franklin. She has fabulous recipes, a wonderful husband, a great website, helpful tips and suggestions, and I have several of her cookbooks too. We also had the chance to meet her and take a baking class from her last fall, and I felt like I knew her from her website. She was just as nice and sweet in person, and I wish her all the best!
More on our topic, I also follow fellow quilters. Duh! Why not – they love to sew as much as we do! Recently, Allison from http://cluckclucksew.com/ posted photos of her new fabric line along with some fabulous project photos that just give me inspiration and ideas. I am always drawn to bags and table runners . . . I cannot help myself. I just cannot imagine coming up with a fabric line! How do you do that – I would think everything has been thought of already, but clearly that is not the case. Good thing too as I don’t want to sew with the same fabrics all the time!
One last person I have to mention is Joe from http://retireby40.org/ . He is actually the person that unknowingly pushed me to start the blog. I have a ‘connection’ with him as well – although he isn’t aware of it. HAHAHA I doubt we’ll ever meet but he has made an impact in my life.
I am sure that most people that follow this are my friends or family (I basically forced them to subscribe). You never know who you might ‘connect’ with – I find that one never has too many friends of any variety. How about you?
