Cute Patio Table Runner Idea!
Our friend, Wendy at Pieceful Thoughts of My Quilting Life made this gorgeous Bear Paw quilt. That happens to be a pattern we have actually made once, ages and ages ago. It was so long ago I don’t remember what happened to the quilt, and I would like to make another. Sooner than later for sure. When Wendy posted her pretty quilt, I saw it on Instagram and also in her blog post. Here it is and you can see for yourself how cute it is and the pretty fabrics she chose. Agreed, right?!!
Pretty Darn Cute Bear Paw
Imagine my surprise when reading the details about this quilt that Wendy proposed cutting it up. I actually gasped out loud and said “No!” to my computer screen. I was alone at work so no one said “What?” back to me or even thought anything was askance. I read on to see why, but I was already forming opinions. I imagine you are too, unless you read the title of this post (made you reread it, didn’t I?!!).
Cutting the Cute Quilt
So, Wendy took a scissors to her quilt without a second thought about it. You’ll have to check out her post for all the gory details, but this picture represents the post-surgical recovery room with the cute quilt on the mend:
YES, A Cute Patio Table Topper
Wendy added a binding all around the cut areas as well as the outside edges. Up to this point I was still thinking it might be a tree skirt, but not with these fabrics even as pretty as they are. It just HAD to be a table topper for a patio set. This last photo sealed the deal and assured me that the quilt survived the surgery:
Now how adorable is that binding in a little gingham check??! Wendy also made her’s reversible – you can see that on her blog post as well. And you know, we had a patio set for years that we used now and then but never with a cute patio set table runner for it. Rosalie, don’t you think you’re new patio table needs one of these? Are you going to make yourself one or should we make one for you??! I love this!

Hello Roseanne; What a wonderful way to cut up a lovely quilt! I am glad that you shared the link also, I enjoy looking around blogs and reading various posts when I have the opportunity. It not only provides great ideas and tutorials, you usually get to learn a variety of things about where the blogger lives and of course, the best I have made some fabulous friends over the years. Thank you for sharing and have a fabulous day!
Loved this story and always so happy when there is a happy ending! And I did not have to look back at the title. For once, my soggy brain retained a morsel of information for more thank one second! Wait…who are you and why am I typing this??
Haha! Love this post! Thanks for highlighting my little escapade with cutting up this quilt! We are finally having some dry, sunshiny days so we can use this on our patio table!
Ha you spin a good yarn Roseanne. 🙂 I remember Wendy’s post and likewise being shocked that she would cut it up until I realised she was making it useful…. Good on you for giving Wendy some internet coverage, she deserves it.
