Evening Star Block – Sized Smaller
I just keep coming back to the Evening Star block. I just know we have to incorporate the nine-patch blocks we already have sitting in the extra scraps drawer. So I pulled them out and spread them out on the island, four by five:
Nine-patches Waiting to be Evening Stars
They are going to find their fabric star match this weekend – we are going on another mini shop hop. We will be on the hunt for the perfect background fabrics to encompass these so they look like these:
We are ready to give the Magic Eight method a shot for making the eight HSTs needed for each block. Sue and I are both leaning toward gray and white . . . but it could also be navy and white, black and white . . . who knows?
I am anxious to get started on this! Look at the difference of how the same block looks just with different fabric choices. Which one do you prefer? I think the one of the left looks three dimensional, while the right block looks more traditional. I personally do not think the left colors go together, and now I see there are actually three different fabrics used. Hmm. Good thing we will have Carol with us, too, for another set of eyes!
We’re heading to the Appleton, Wisconsin area. There are SEVEN quilting shops in that small area. WOWEE – that’s a lot of shops to hit but we are up for the challenge. ~smile~ I’ll definitely be sharing our purchases next week, and maybe even a test block for one of these nine-patches. Finally, hmm, does this quilt need borders?! If so, what color?!
Our Linky Parties can be found by clicking the link for more quilting fun – check out what our friends are up to. Like/follow us on our Facebook page and share your laser light ideas there! We love to see them. ~smile~
