Great-Grandma – A Quilt Finished
A while back I finished piecing two animal panels that we picked up on one of our road trip quilt shop visits. I wasn’t in any hurry to quilt them until I realized that great-grandma didn’t have a quilt for those days that she was babysitting. What?!! She should have her own special quilt, don’t you think?! I do, so we set about getting her need moved to the top of the to-do list. Forget about those quilt alongs as this is WAY more important.
One week I got a few straight lines started, but those were basically a pity start (honestly so I could check it off that it was started!). Later, one night after work I was able to devote about two hours to it and got it all diagonally quilted about one inch apart. Here it is laying on the island without binding, trimming or squaring up.
My favorite time to quilt is when there is something on TV that I don’t need to actually watch but enjoy listening to. I suppose I would also enjoy music playing but haven’t even given that a chance. Once Sue cut some binding strips for me, we got it bound in no time. Toss it in the washing machine, and boom – it’s ready to go. Our main rule is that we need a picture of the person with their quilt, so great-grandma and Dominic had to pose for a shot. Hard work but someone has to do it.
Great-Grandma and Cutie Pie
Dominic and GG were happy to pose along with cousin Jaxson and the new animal quilt. Later Dominic was SO very close to rolling over so he could closer study that orange kitty cat. That darn shoulder is just getting in his way! I suspect he will do so on Tuesday with GG and great-grandpa Tom cheering him on. He was trying to bring the Packers luck with his garb but alas they need more help and luck than he can give. ~smile~
The other two flimsies are still hanging in front of the closet, waiting to be quilted. Soon, I whisper to them every now and then. For now, I’m looking forward to showing the fox, puppies and other animals to Dominic. I wonder which one will be his favorite? The cute blue dachshund or maybe the red bulldog? Maybe the panda bear like his cousin Miki?
