I Love Thursday #103 Small Blessings
This is the 103rd post of things we love for the week. We post these loves each Thursday along with LeeAnna on her blog at Not Afraid of Color. Several additional friends also share on a weekly basis – be sure to check them out. You will surely find something to inspire you.
Hostas and flowers going strong! My hostas have been done blooming for quite a while now. I was struck by both of these plants as I left work yesterday. Only 45 miles south from my home, these hostas were happily blooming away. Maybe it’s a different variety than mine, which would account for the later bloom cycle. I’m not sure why but they sure are putting on a spectacular show for the beginning of October!
Another quilt inspiration! My coworker was wearing this top at work the other day. Each time I saw it, I thought to myself, “that needs to be a quilt somehow.” It probably is beyond me as it looks like paper piecing would be required. Nevertheless, I asked if I could take a picture – you never know when a technique might be inspired by this photo. And Mary Ringer, if you are reading this, it reminds me of the sunrays you did on the piece for your friend.
A little followup to last week’s love! Sue had this exact experience the day this posted last week. She travels between 12 different schools and doesn’t have a set calendar to visit each one. Last Thursday, she saw a coworker and went to speak with her. (Technically, Sue was prompted to go see her – she thought she heard a voice say the lady’s name but no one was around.) Sue asked the coworker about the possibility of something happening, and the young lady started crying. She relayed that she had just had a horrible experience and was praying for a resolution just the evening before. Then first thing the next morning, Sue walked in with an answer to her prayer. Sue was hesitant to bring up the topic and ask, but she followed the path she was led on. I just had to share this wonderful experience because you just never know, do you?!
Autumn Jubilee starts! Carole at From My Carolina Home hosts a month long party with lots of fabulous sponsors and great gifts. Her Jubilee just started this week so check out the link. I look forward to seeing what her autumn-themed quilting project is this year. You will see a Pumpkin Star quilt from a previous year that I would just LOVE to make.
Dominic has been one sicky chicky most of the week. He picked up croup from somewhere and it really knocked all the sweet boy out of him. He couldn’t sleep, didn’t want to drink, and coughed that barking cough. Sweet girl, Addison, thought that was what they were supposed to do so she imitated him in that cute, fake way. Just a few photos this week. First, our little sick boy before going to the doctor. He broke his grandma’s and our heart as he looked so bad. He was well enough to wake up his sister though! Addison, wake up! Little Addison was just lost when he went to the doctor without her! Where’d he go – what’s he doing – why can’t I go, too?? So she stood at the front screen door (on tippy toes so she could see out) until he came home. Then she did the baby clap and crawled right up to him. Aww! Finally, Dominic felt enough better to “eat cereal,” he told us on the phone. We are praying that she doesn’t get it too. It’s so hard to have one of them crying in the night when they start coughing. ♥ ♥ ♥
