I Love Thursday #11
LeeAnna blogs at Not Afraid of Color and shares her ‘likes’ every Thursday. She is getting ready to move halfway across the country next week, but will still have a long list of likes! Several of our friends also share on a weekly basis, and it is rather addictive looking for all the positives once you get started. You are welcome to join us anytime! Here are a few items I love for the week:
Love #1
My parents. I lost my mom in 2011 but yesterday she would have turned 106. She made it to 99.5 and had all her facilities until 99 or so. I was so blessed to have her 29 years after my dad passed. They both instilled in me a good work ethic, independence, empathy and kindness and I thank them for that. I have to thank my siblings as well – my sisters both considered me their own chick. While we had a great age difference (22, 24 and 26 years) there is/was lots of love between all of us.
Love #2
Christmas Cactus! Mine only has five buds on it this year, and the one that has opened is spectacular. Last year I had approximately 30 blooms for Thanksgiving. I think it depends on how cool and for how long the house gets before we turn on the heat. Beats me though – if you know the key, let me know! I never noticed how close the tablecloth is in color to the blooms – and I don’t have my Christmas duds on it yet.
Love #3
My new toy, the Clover Mini Iron II. It’s supposed to be my Christmas present from Sue, but since I ordered it and it came already . . . well . . . it’s not under the tree. I am using it in my quest to determine pressed seams vs. ironed to one side. It works like a charm on pressing those seams open! I’m leaning toward the seams being pressed open . . .
Love #4
Mr. Big Stuff watched his Uncle John put his new toy together. Look at his face trying to figure out what was going on! He wasn’t going to miss a moment of the action. And then he got to sit in it and there are so many choices – oh my. Be still my heart. ♥ He’s going to be a big helper pretty soon.
That’s it for this week! I hope your week is filled with many blessings.

Thank you for sharing the memories of your Mom! Very touching story. Your Christmas cactus looks so pretty. Love the color. Good to know about the tiny iron. I’ve often thought of buying one. 🙂
Hi Cindy!
Yeah, I miss my mom pretty much every day but can finally say it without crying. ~smile~ That’s a good thing! I am going to pick up one (or two!) more cactus – just cause I like them. ~smile~ Roseanne
Well I guess that is a good thing. My dad died in 1998. My mom is now 86. Good for you. The cactus is a great display of color in this dreary weather and landscape. 🙂
Your Christmas cactus is beautiful! I’ve never been successful with them, so I love to see other people’s. That little iron looks very handy! Glad you are finding it helpful to press the seams open. I find that to be a tedious thing with my big iron!
Hi Diann,
I’ve only had luck with the cactus since I was given this one – not all of them bloom! I find I burn the heck out of my fingers from the steam on my big iron. This little one works great! ~smile~ Roseanne
Little Big Man gets more alert every time we see him. He will be driving soon and will be visiting quilting shops. 🙂
Hi Peggy!
I can hardly wait for him to drive me around – that will be SO cool. ~smile~ Roseanne
Hi Rosanne, My Christmas cactus is just starting to bud down here in LA. I guess it takes a while longer since we just started seeing cooler weather a few weeks ago. I do think they are beautiful. I only have about a dozen buds on it. I’ll snap some pictures when it starts blooming. Dominic is so cute. Don’t stop posting pictures of him. I love to see the changes in him as time goes by.
Hi Cherie,
Aww, that is so sweet of you to say about Dominic. That boy just has my heart! I’ll look forward to seeing the pictures of your cactus! I think I need to get a few more in different colors . . . ~smile~ Roseanne
Fun loves, all of them. 🙂
Hi Sally! Thanks a bunch! ~smile~ Roseanne
Your Christmas Cactus is lovely. But the little man oh he is adorable.
Hi Colette,
We think he is quite adorable – I can’t help myself! ~smile~ Roseanne
Your likes are wonderful but I adore Mr. Big Stuff, he is so adorable!!! Cheers!
Good Morning!
Aww, Mr. Big Stuff laughed for the first time yesterday. Oh my goodness, a really deep belly laugh. He got himself started and then proceeded to laugh at everything momma said. We are just so blessed to have him. ~smile~ Roseanne
