I Love Thursday #118 Plentiful Blessings
This is the 118th post of things we love for the week. We post these loves each Thursday along with LeeAnna on her blog at Not Afraid of Color. Several additional friends also share on a weekly basis – be sure to check them out. You will surely find something to inspire you.
Love #1
Transition dice! I hadn’t seen this particular photo reflecting the transition from 2019 to 2020. How fun! Sue’s first-grade students used to use dice in Mathematic lessons, plus we used to play a lot of Yahtzee when I was a kid and young adult. Finally, who doesn’t like a good ‘ole roll of the dice?!
Love #2
Last weekend we were supposed to be hit by a huge storm. The prediction was for zero to fourteen inches of snow – yes, 0-14. That’s quite a range, huh?! The sunrise over the Lake and trees that stormy-to-be morning was glorious. It wasn’t long until the predicted ice and sleet arrived, sticking to my window screen and of course, the sidewalk/street.
Love #3
Lake Michigan (again)! For the storm mentioned above, the wind was from the East and had winds measured at 58 mph sustained in our town. Needless to say, that wind caused some BIG waves on Lake Michigan. I thought you might enjoy these two photos showcasing the strength.
This first photo made me giggle a bit – that little sign says “Road closed” and you can’t help but say, what road?! The sign is sitting on the road which follows along the edge of the stones heading toward the left of the photo. This is an inlet with a break-wall to keep the waves to a minimum with a nice walkway.
This guy was trying to take a photo of a large wave . . . this was snapped just before . . . you can guess it . . . he was covered by the power of this exact wave. He was soaked! But he got a few good pictures that were well earned for his perseverance.
Love #4
Little People Train! For Addison’s birthday, we picked up a new toy for our house. Sue and I couldn’t remember which train we liked better so we ordered two different ones. This one has a Little People conductor and one passenger included, although the passenger car can hold three different people. The train encourages politeness and it has a fairly bright headlamp that fascinates Dominic.
Love #5
Dominic gave the Quiet Book another shot, this time enjoying the Match and Snap page. He did a good job! ~clap, clap~ Last weekend he moved from a crib to a big boy bed. He thought it was pretty cool and so did Addison. The pillow on the floor just-in-case-he-fell-out threw him off a bit. Now we have to start and finish that big boy’s bed quilt. He also put together the outcome/consequence event on the tricycle. If you push down on the pedal, the bike moves ahead. Each and every time! Addison wants to know, how do you do that anyway?? This tricycle is just my size.
Mom took the kiddos to the gym for a few hours. Dominic, run, run, run! The rope swing – you want me to do what?? Umm, that looks scary. I’ll just watch Quinn jump off on the swing. He found an orange ball and Addison wanted it – just try to catch me. She did finally get it and you can see her hair up in her new birthday clips. Finally, Addison learned how to do a somersault . . . and this is how you start. Hmm, maybe it would be easier when you’re not in your jammies. Have a great week – see you next Thursday with some new antics. ♥ ♥ ♥
I’ll leave you with this saying that was sent to me randomly in a spam email: “Life always gives us exactly what we need at every moment.” So profound, so true for me and I hope for you as well. ~smile~

I am always amazed at the lengths that people will go to in order to capture a photo of Nature’s extremes. Glad that fellow was OK – nothing worse than getting soaked. Kiddos are adorable, as always!
OMG! That guy really was in the line of fire!! LOL
Wow on that sign and that photos of the wave photographer! Just love seeing the kids–that one of Addie trying to do a somersault made me laugh!!! Way to go Dom! Have a great day!
omg the power of the waves!! That photographer was nutty! He could have been pulled back in! The big boy bed is adorable! It reminds you they are growing up.
It’s very cold here at the moment, and WINDY! we’ve had such wind, 60 mph gusts but also constant winds that take your breath away. Happy weekend R.

Whoa, that’s quite the storm pics! Here we have been going through 40-48 degrees below Celsius with wind chill in the mornings…love waiting for the bus in that! Thank you for the super cute photos to keep me warm inside at least! Love those little souls…
It’s our turn for the storm weekend, and I am waiting for it. The schools are already closing (nothing has started yet), so that might be a bad sign, or I’m just pessimistic. When the waves on Superior get that high (or higher), sometimes the surfers come out to play. I can’t imagine, but they seem to find it fun.
Storms can be so much fun as long as you’re in a safe spot. Those waves are terrific!
Love the picture of the waves! The wind must have been so powerful! I hope that guy is okay! Addison and Dominic look like they were having a great time!
Those are great dice! I also used dice a lot in my classroom – the kids lived those dice games. What a storm that must have been, Roseanne! Loved the pictures you shared. Dominic’s big boy bed is so neat! What a beautiful design! So fun to see the kids exploring it.
Again, such great photos. We got high winds this week several times. I thought the roof would come off. 130 over the mountains, 60 down here. Still play Yahtzee with the grandkids. The dice must be watched at all times or they disappear into a pocket. Crazy Eights is another favorite game. Those waves are awesome. Some people are willing to take more risks than I am! Those two littles are so much fun. Look forward to the next set of photos. Have a great week!
A big boy bed??? How did that happen?! And that picture of Addison doing her somersault had me literally LOLing! Plus I love that Dominic figured out the whole action/reaction thing on the trike. There will be no catching him this spring!
Wow- those waves! That photographer is lucky they didn’t carry him out. Little People- I loved them when my kids (in their 50’s now) played with them. They had the school and an airplane, They were so welll made we passed them around our families back then.
Love your wave photo. Here in Ohio we have 70 degrees one day and 30 the next. It’s just not right for mid january.
All great photos this week. Love wave #2 photo. It almost looks like smoke instead of water.
That’s a crazy storm and those waves…wow! It’s been so calm and beautiful here, it’s hard to imagine that craziness. That little guy is just the cutest and makes me smile just seeing his happy face. Thanks for sharing!
Wow — what a storm — cool pictures! I miss seeing snow fall but I don’t miss the work removing it! Glad your family was safe! Love the Little People train — I’ll have to get that for Miss Evelyn! The kids are too cute and have lots of energy ♥♥
Quite the storm wasn’t it? We had torrential rain to the point where we had about 5 inches on the ground. Then the wind was blowing from the East so Lake Erie was pushing the water back this way. Then the freezing rain on top, we had a giant ice skating rink all over the property in no time. Great pics though. The sunrise is gorgeous too. Cute train, and fun times at the gym. Oh a big boy bed I just love the cribs that transition.
love the photos of the waves – yes one can not get too close to them – that guy is lucky he didn’t loose his footing when the water got all over him! The kids – so cute!
Gorgeous sunrise and those pics of the Lake MI waves are awesome. And such cute and very energetic kiddos! Have a great day, Mary.
