I Love Thursday #136 – Plentiful Blessings
This is the 136th post of things we love for the week. We post these loves each Thursday along with LeeAnna on her blog at Not Afraid of Color. Several additional friends also share on a weekly basis – be sure to check them out. You will surely find something to inspire you.
Island Batik stash busters! I won these pretties from Denise at For the Love of Geese from Island Batik. They are called stash busters and I immediately had to open them up to enjoy their beauty. There are just a few duplicates and each strip is 5″ wide by width-of-fabric. So many options . . . good thing I allowed for an open project in this week’s to-do list, huh?!
Big Carrots! My friends’ neighbor used to grow vegetables for a well-known company like Del Monte (or it might have been Green Giant). There are exact specifications for the vegetables and if they didn’t meet the specs they weren’t accepted. These friends received quite a few large carrots that weren’t quite up to snuff after harvesting, and they shared some of them with Sue and me. Although that was several years ago, recently big carrots showed up in the grocery stores. My friend bought me one just for old times sake . . . and I roasted it. YUM.
Bird watcher! I’ve enjoyed watching for hummingbirds in the past so I made sure our feeder was out in early April. I wasn’t sure when the hummers return but I didn’t want to miss them. Now that I’m home and the feeder is within sight, I’ve seen a few other birds visit the feeder. Very excitedly, I called my sister to report on the yellow bird that wasn’t a finch. She had to look it up in her bird book for me – it’s a Yellow Warbler and we had a pair of them. Next, not one, not two, but three orioles visited the hummingbird feeder. One was a huge bully and kept the other two away from the sweet nectar. Who knew there were oriole bullies of the winged variety?!! I’m not talking baseball here.
Little baby Coltie is growing in leaps and bounds as he zooms past two-months-old. He is already holding up his head and able to sit in his bouncy seat. Daddy is already teaching him to be a slugger for the Cubs while Dominic’s buddy Zeus keeps an eye on things. Colt wasn’t really into the baseball training yet . . . ♥ ♥
Dominic and Addison got to spend some time with the GGs outside, and I’m not sure who liked the visit more. Dominic got to spend some time learning how to improve his golf stroke with GG, and then it was time to hop in the wagon for a ride. Momma got both littles so new rain boots, which they happily tried out at Gamma’s house. It turns out that little Miss pink boots enjoys the mud and water just as much as her brother. It wasn’t very nice when Dominic went to push Addison and missed . . . he ended up face first in the water and mud instead of her.
Addison has learned how to maneuver the cap off the water-solulible markers. How do we know, you ask?? She tried it out on her sweet face with a red and green mark! Addison received a baby named Janice Andrea (Cabbage Patch doll) which she promptly renamed Grover. ??!! She looked so sweet giving her baby a bottle. Dominic wanted to get in on the feeding but she hovered closeby. Finally, the two littles wish you a happy Thursday wearing pretty blue . . . and the water needs to warm up, Momma. Brrr. This water is cold!
