I Love Thursday #43
This is our 43rd post of things we love for the week. We post these loves each Thursday along with LeeAnna on her blog at Not Afraid of Color. Several additional friends also share on a weekly basis – be sure to check them out. You will surely find something to inspire you.
Don’t miss the free pattern for a mug rug that we shared on Monday, along with a great blog hop ongoing through tomorrow.

Perfect quilts! My friend, Rosalie, is making a quilt for a friend of her son. She has known Mark since he was a young boy. He is now on the verge of being a father, and she thought this would be the perfect quilt. Both parents are music enthusiasts, as he enjoys the trombone and she is a flutist. Rosalie made the quilt from black and white HSTs and then added some appropriate music symbols. The backing is black with colorful music notes, and this whole project just makes me happy.

Rain! We had been in a throngs of a moderate draught, but relief came on Friday. I haven’t heard the official measurement, but I would suspect we received more than two inches. Slowly, over three days and two nights we received wonderful rain. Never too much but rather just the perfect amounts that the ground would easily absorb. Almost like there was a greater power at work, making the corn grow higher and plumping up our tomatoes. I didn’t go dancing in the rain but did dodge some raindrops while getting a hair cut.

SUVs. I drive a hybrid Toyota Camry most days to work. It gets great gas mileage (44 mpg), and has a large gas tank which were the two most important requirements for my car. It often boggles my mind that a larger, mid-sized car can get better mileage than its smaller counterpoints, but whatever. In the summer, I sometimes drive Sue’s SUV. I really enjoy that because it allows me to sit higher than my Camry and see over traffic ahead of me. If they would only design a high efficiency SUV, I would be very interested in giving it a try. I like the idea of a smaller energy footprint, but I also like the safety that a larger vehicle provides. Maybe in my lifetime an affordable vehicle like that will exist!

Dominic is still being a BIG help to his dad on Sunday, a.k.a. coupon day. Here is a sweet photo of the two of them cutting some out. Dad is still in charge of the scissors, much to Dominic’s dismay. He likes to be a big help!
That’s it for this week! We hope your week is filled with many blessings. Happy Thursday!

Lots of good things to ponder here. I drove a Toyota Celica for years, and I LOVED that car! We had two, in fact. The second one wasn’t bought anywhere near new. It was $200 plus a new transmission, and it went a LONG time before it died completely. They make good cars.
our rain is not gentle, it blows sideways and drags hail and tornadoes with it!!! I would love to see your kind of rain. I had a camry for so long and loved it, then got a sienna van and it got better mileage! I like being higher up in traffic too. How’s the haircut? It’s sometimes scary to let a stranger come at you with long shears!
How lucky you are to get rain. We are in dire straights here. Cute little guy.
Sweet baby/Dad and lovely quilt for music enthusiasts. As for cars…like Wendy, I drive a Subaru Forester. In fact, I’m on my fourth and am contemplating a new one. My daughter did crash testing with two of them when she was a new driver and was Tboned twice in 16 months. Both cars suffered significant dents on both sides and fronts, and one landed on its roof. Both were written off, but she walked away unscathed. My favourite was the turbo charged standard, which took off up hills like a plane about to be airborne, but my present one has the usual engine and is quite decent on gas. With four snow tires, it is a tank in winter.
The musical quilt is lovely. Please send some rain over here.
That’s a lovely baby photo that both he and dad will treasure when he’s grown up (past the teens though).
I wish we were getting some of that ‘just right’ rain here in the UK and back home in Montana – sure could use it! As always, Dom is cute as a button – maybe Dad could get him a pair of plastic scissors?
What an awesome quilt your friend made!🎶
You two spread happiness with all that you have and are thankful for 😊
What a big help he is! So cute. I can remember when the girls would love to “help” us do things. Sometimes you just have to laugh at their “helpfulness” and then just redo it later when they aren’t looking.
I love themed quilts that are just right for the recipient. So fun!
Dominic is getting so big! Love the music quilt.
Neat quilt. Yay for rain! We’ve been getting some here, too.
I love family photos. We are in the middle of the car debate at our house. I drive an Explorer, which sits high up, but we need to replace it….better gas mileage is on my list too, but that means a smaller car.
I love the music quilt – sounds like a perfect gift for that couple! We’ve been having some rain, too – so refreshing! Love your pictures of Dominic each week. Of course he wants to use those scissors – he’s a big boy now, isn’t he?! 🙂
Adorable photo of the two of them. Dads are so important to little ones.
I hear you re the gas mileage. We have to drive far to visit people here and use an SUV that drinks gas but it does make me feel safer on the road. So it’s a toss up. I’ve been looking at the Nissan Leaf.
I love that music quilt! Dom sure is getting to be a big boy, sooooo adroable! We love our SUV too but it doens’t get your mileage. Have a great day to you and Sue!
Baby photos just make my day! Look at his concentration watching Dad! We have a Hyundai SUV and we really like it, though I miss my VW Passat big time. A fully electric car is and has been for some time, in my future, love the Tesla. That music quilt is truly a beauty!
The musical quilt is a fun, festive quilt. I’m sure they will like it. I drive a Subara Forester and I love it. It doesn’t get the gas mileage your Camry gets, but it does okay. Glad you finally got rain! Little D is really cute in that pic!
