I Love Thursday #58 – A Day Early Again
This is our 58th post of things we love for the week. We post these loves each Thursday along with LeeAnna on her blog at Not Afraid of Color. Tomorrow we are participating in Pick a Pumpkin blog hop, so we posted this a day early. Several additional friends also share on a weekly basis – be sure to check them out. You will surely find something to inspire you.
A new mat! I won a 50% off coupon from Marian at Seams to be Sew during the Peek A Who blog hop. The mat is by Calibre Art Mat, and I ordered the largest size they offered. This is a 24″ x 36″ . . . doesn’t it look spiffy?!! Little did I know that Sue really needs a new one – her old has holes in it. Great timing to win a 50% off coupon, wouldn’t you say?!
Beautiful stripes! I have a thing for stripes. I also have. Something about the nice straight lines just appeals to me. Nicole at Handwrought Quilts recently use this beautiful fabric as a binding on her project. I commented on it, and said how much I liked it. So Nicole sent me a metre (!!!) of it. It turns out it is a Dr. Seuss print, and we have another Dr. Seuss quilt to make. How incredibly nice is that of Nicole, and how cool is this fabric??!! I know – VERY!
Courthouse Surprise! My friend, Cindy, sent me this lovely little modern wall hanging as a surprise. It was a total surprise – and it actually made me cry. We often make projects for others (non-quilters), but rarely for other quilters. Don’t you think? Who else can truly admire the lovely small details of the fabrics, or the perfectly matched colors in the variegated thread like another quilter? Also, the sweet label, the matching hanger and the overall thoughtfulness of it! To say it will bring me joy each and every day I look at it is an understatement. Can you see why I was moved to tears? Thank you, Cindy Anderson, from the bottom of my heart. ♥ ♥ P.S. We both live in Wisconsin, so I know for sure we will meet one day.
Rows-O-Rama pattern! I unwittingly won this wonderful pattern from Melva at Melva Loves Scraps. I always leave comments on friend’s blog, regardless of any contest they are running. If you take the time to read my blog and leave a comment, you can bet I’m going to return the favor. Of course there are blogs I just read every single day just because that’s how I start my day. Anyhoo, dear Melva sent me an email and said I won a pattern. I thought, hmm, that’s odd. I don’t recall seeing anything about a pattern giveaway. Today it arrived, and I have to say I am thrilled! The pattern is called Rows-O-Rama by Whistlepig Creek Productions.
This pattern reminds me a bit of the Regatta quilt we made for my sister. I need to make her another quilt in shades of blue because my brother-in-law has sort of appropriated it for himself. With my sister’s approval of course, but now she needs one for herself! So, this beginner friendly beauty is going on the 2019 list to-be-made. I don’t dare start it now or we won’t earn our PHD from Quilting Gail!! That’s the second mention of a quilt to be made in 2019 in just this ONE post!!
When I first started working at my current job, I attended a Beck Seminars meeting regarding positive attitude and customer service. I learn a lot from that three hour seminar, and now I get weekly, one minute videos about staying positive, etc. This week is one I would like to share with you as I find it very humorous and most fitting for the times. I might even encourage you to sign up for his weekly messages as they fit into the whole point of these weekly posts. He can also be found on YouTube, if you’re interested. This week message is The End is Near – a little tongue in cheek.
Our boy Dominic really enjoyed Halloween. I didn’t have a chance to share these last week because I shared it a day early last week, too. Dominic was being his usual BIG helper and helped grandma pass out candy to all the trick or treaters.
Rumor has it he cried when he had to go inside. Also, the little rebel only wore ONE mitten. He’s not real big on socks, hats, and now mittens. He keeps them on only when you tell him specifically that he has to. Grandma must have forgotten to say both mittens.
Lastly, what little boy doesn’t wear pants on his head every change he gets? And so it begins at only age one. ~smile~ Oh, and occasionally he IS the reason they are late.
Personal note: ** This post may sound a little like bragging, sharing all the cool things I recently won or have been given. It is not meant to be at all. I apologize if you think that. I am truly sharing my delight and love of the blessings that have entered my life since starting this blog. Roseanne **
