I Love Thursday #88 Abundant Blessings
This is the 87th post of things we love for the week. We post these loves each Thursday along with LeeAnna on her blog at Not Afraid of Color. Several additional friends also share on a weekly basis – be sure to check them out. You will surely find something to inspire you.
Love #1
Strawberry Fields! What is your first thought at those two words? The Beatles song? A field of strawberries waiting to be picked at perfect ripeness? Or the living memorial to John Lennon in New York City’s Central Park? I just recently found out about the later, and am amazed. Or maybe I should say Baby, I’m Amazed. Whether you are a Beatle fan or not, you have to give kudos to a memorial to someone who was slain right across the street trying to enter his home. Having visited NYC a few times, I am sorry to say that we missed this tribute. There’s always another reason to visit in my mind, and this is just one more example. If you need a few more just ask me because I have a mental list!

Quilt ALL Day! I saw this saying in an email from Green Fairy Quilts and it just made me giggle. How true is that?!! Plus, if you’ve never checked out their website before, they have great sales and you can sign up for email alerts. They are great people – Chuck and Judi. They also have a good sense of humor. ~smile~ I love a nice early start myself – how about you??

Love #3
Bike in the office! I work for the Superintendent in our school district, and she is definitely hands-on. Recently the Village held a bike safety event and she was there with her bike and helmet. Ready to fit and adjust helmets for any adult or child who asked, she rode her bike in from the City. Chicago that is, to the North Shore – a good bit of distance. Now her bike is in her office, ready for summer school and biking with kids for exercise and exploration. It makes me smile to see this sitting in front of her desk as the sun rises on this fine day.
Love #4
My great-nieces! It’s been a while since I shared a picture of two of my great-nieces, Sydney and Sierra. Sydney just turned 17 and is a chocoholic according to my sister, her grandmother. That birthday cake looks pretty darn chocolatey and delicious if I do say so myself. She is one smart cookie and has an advanced degree in her long-range plan once high school is behind her next year. Sierra is a part of the American Ballet Theatre corps de ballet in NYC. She has been traveling the world and living her dream.
I love these two so much and I’m so proud of them. ♥♥♥
Love #5
Give Dominic a swing and he is one happy boy, and here is the proof in the pudding in the first picture. Then mom was taking her time in the bathroom so he had to check to see whatcha doing in there?!! Time to run over with a big cheezer smile and lay down next to my sista. That look Addison gives Dominic just sums up the love between them. ~smile~ Dominic isn’t quite sure about the double umbrella stroller, but Addison adores facing forward especially with bare feet! Someone just turned five months old and can push herself into a sitting position. Slow down, little girl! Proof that she does sometimes, albeit less frequently now, sleep. For Sue’s birthday, they both donned their Batman garb and posed for a photo in or near the Batmobile. Finally, Sue had Sweet Boy laughing and enjoying his own videos from when he was younger. It’s an excellent way to spend a birthday. ♥ ♥ ♥

Fabulous pictures of the littles, of course! I love Dominic’s smile, but I also love how well he does the serious business look. They are adorable together. That blue bike made me smile. Your great-nieces are beautiful! How wonderful for Sarah to live her dreams of ballet all over the world. Very prestigious company, too! If you can’t quilt all day, quilt all night, I say. =)
I love the beatles, but we had strawberries in our garden as kids and that’s always what I think of first when I hear that. The pictures of your nieces are fabulous, and of course Dominic is as cute as ever. So cool that your superintendent brought in her bicycle! I don’t have one but my dad told me a friend of his knew I was looking for one so brought one over for me recently. I thought that was very kind! I’ll have to pick it up the next time I’m out with my family!
The Beatles, of course. I never heard of that pretty memorial to John Lennon. Thank you for that. I “think” I want a bike. What cool great nieces you have! That is all hard work. Of course I look forward to photos of these adorable kids.
Wow your nieces are something! That is so awesome what they are doing with their lives. I am not that old but I always think of The Beatles with Strawberry Fields. Great list of likes, and it is always great to see Dominick and Addison.
Absolutely love all these Thursday loves!
🙂
Your great-nieces are quite impressive, but then your whole family is a joy. I like to read your posts just to keep tabs on what’s going on with those adorable grandbabies! I think this feeling of love and positivity is what LeeAnna intended with this link party. Mission accomplished!
That memorial is quite amazing. Strawberry Fields Forever in the concrete.
What accomplished great nieces! I love hearing these success stories.
Sounds like the boss is in great shape to bike that distance. I worry about bikers on the roads but it is a wonderful past time and exercise.
Of course, your post saves the best for last…Addison seems to be catching up to her brother!
being in the Am. ballet theater was just a dream of mine. How lovely. I’d like to quilt all day!
I thought of Beatles too, and what is wrong with people who hurt others poor John Lennon. Thanks for the great list of likes. I like NYC a whole bunch
Love all the loves this time around…
Enjoy the rest of your week.
It looks to me like you have a couple of reasons to visit NYC, Roseanne! I will “Imagine” you at Strawberry Fields and seeing your niece in the ballet as soon as you can get there!. Love those big smiles on the kiddoes – they’re so precious.
Hello Roseanne, Your post today is full of pride and I am so thrilled to have had the opportunity to read about both of your Great Nieces! Plus, all of the accomplishments of both Dominic and Addison! Thank you for sharing such wonderful fun love in your life with us! Have a blast with all of your new fabrics also, quilting all day long! Smiles and Hugs being sent your way!!!1
I never knew about that memorial. How cool. What a cool Superintendent. I like her bike. Kudos to your great-nieces. A ballerina is hard work!
Blessings are surely abundant! Love the updates on the little ones and the not so little ones (quite accomplished)!
OK, you already led me down the rabbit hole with Pineapple Fabrics. $30.00 lighter in the pocketbook I am not following Green Fairy, besides I already get their emails. LOL!
Your nieces are lovely and so accomplished! I just love that photo of Addie lifting her head to look at Dom==Wow! Have a great week!
Boy, those two sure do look alike! So much activity and things to learn when they are young, and so much fun! I’ve never been to NYC but maybe someday. If you’re going to quilt all day, be sure to take breaks. 🙂
Good Morning, Roseanne … Grandma’s Prince and Princess Charming are just that … charming … and heartwarming … and always bring a smile to my face. Add your beautiful great-nieces to the post and the smile gets bigger and bigger.. The bike photo and story really jumped out at me. The quilt sign makes me think I should turn off the computer and start my quilty day. Naw .. not yet … a few more happy Thursday posts first. Thank you for sharing I Like Thursday … 🙂 Pat
