To-Do Tuesday #255 Weekly Update

Join us today for the 255th weekly To-Do Tuesday list and update. Linda hosts the To-Do Tuesday linky party and we thank you, Linda! Happy Birthday to Betsy!

To-Do for the week of May 3rd through 9th:

  1. Quilt one-quarter of Have A Ball – √ Done
  2. Start making journal coversNope
  3. No more – stress-free motto adherence!

To-Do #1

We made the Have A Ball quilt our May OMG project so that it gets finished and on Colt’s bed tout de suite! Towards that end, literally, I worked diligently on getting half of the quilt top sandwich quilted. We even got so far as to add the masking tape from corner to corner for the second part of the crosshatch design.

I chose a thread called Sunset Gray for the top with a white thread in the bobbin. The gray seems to really stand out on the baseball blue background but fades away on the other backgrounds which is just what I wanted!

To-Do #2

On my mental list, I’ve had a project that I’ve wanted to make ever since I saw Jen’s (at Dizzy Quilter) version. Jen’s journal cover had an outline of her pup, Oscar, on the front of her journal. I thought that was a fun idea and I wanted to choose something that would be meaningful for Sue. Since she is the keeper of our project list, some sort of list keeping might be appropriate.

You will have to wait to see how I am to interpret that into something on the front of the journal. I’ll have to wait, too since I have no ideas yet! HAHA.

Mother’s Day Extra:

This is a pan of a chocolate chip bar with a layer of caramel/peanut butter in the middle called Knock You Naked bars. Fresh out of the oven, the caramel was bubbling up through the cracks and on the sides. Jeanette was happy to pose with Janice and Chase , and then with Dominic! It was a very happy Mother’s Day.

To-Do for the week of May 10th through 16th:

  1. Select the journal cover fabrics
  2. Finish another quarter of Colt’s quilt
  3. Two is enough – keep it stress-free

That gray is a great choice on the quilting! You’re doing a wonderful job with it. I’m looking forward to your journal cover. Oh my gosh that pan of bars looks delicious! Is lovely Jeanette your mother?

The quilting is coming along nicely. Remember, when you wash that quilt, the grey will sink into those baseballs nicely. I don’t think it is noticeable, but we are our own worst critics. Love your new project idea; you will come up with the perfect motif for the journal cover.

  5. Great going on the quilting. You got heaps done, I find choosing thread to go over lots of colours difficult but went with a grey too, not sure how it will work out. But like you i want to do it toute de suite!

  6. That quilting will be done before you know it, Roseanne! And yum, yum, yum on the bar cookies! That’s a very tempting recipe to try. Have a great week!

  7. Great job on getting half of the quilting on Colt’s quilt completed!! You are breezing right along. I LOVE using a light to medium gray thread for quilting and piecing actually. It seems to blend just where I need it to blend! I look forward to seeing your journal cover for Sue! That chocolate chip bar looks AWESOME!! I may have to try to make that! Thanks for the link to the recipe. I’m so happy Jeanette is doing well and had a wonderful Mother’s Day!

  8. Great job on accomplishing half of the quilting Roseanne. Mother’s Day looked like so much fun for you and a new project? Great post this week and good for you for keeping it stress free!

Great start on the quilting! Ha, we’ll await your amazing journal cover! And oh my, I haven’t had breakfast yet (10am)–those look amazing! (I guess I get to keep my clothes on since I can’t eat them at the moment!) (It IS really hot here tho so maybe I should make them…!) Looks like a great Mother’s Day! I miss my mom (8+ years) so I love to see other’s take the time to spend all the moments they can with theirs!
