January 2019 OMG – Fresh Start
After a successful full year of OMG linkups in 2018, we are going to continue posting a monthly OMG goal. It sure seems to help me focus, and that coupled with our weekly list can really get things done. Patty at Elm Street Quilts is the wonderful host, and she has lined up some new sponsors for this year. If you are on the fence about trying it, give it a shot. What do you have to lose?!
Fresh Start for Hand Quilting
Sue was working on a little Fall quilt. It was giving her fits with the thread breaking, knotting and tangling. Even though I found her some Thread Magic to conquer those issues, she just has lost interest in the project. I will be taking it over, and likely finishing it on the machine. I don’t have much time for hand quilting, nor do I enjoy it as much as she does.
That means we need a fresh start on a new project! Delving into the fabric stash that is so limited (NOT!), we have two baby quilts labeled Boy Dot and Girl Dot. She selected the Boy Dot . . . although you would think since we are awaiting Baby Girl . . . just saying. Anyhoo, Boy Dot it is. She cut some strips for me to whip up a few nine-patch blocks, and away we go.
Blank Design Wall
It bothers me to no end walking past our design wall with nothing on it. Most of the break, it was blank although Dr. Seuss lived on it for a few short hours.
Sue laid out this charm pack in color waves which is not our norm. We usually try to randomize the colors and patterns, although sometimes not all that effectively upon reflection. In between the charm pack squares will the the blue and white nine-patch, and you can see two in the first row. Usually we add a good sized border but we don’t have a coordinating fabric – maybe I’ll need to order some! HAHA! Assuming, that is, that the fabric line is still available.
January OMG – Fresh Start Quilt
Sew, this is a fresh start quilt project for January! Our OMG is to have this quilt top together before the end of the month. We appreciate Patty for hosting this link up!
