Marbles Star Table Runner – Tutorial
It is Monday and today I share a free pattern from the Fat Quarter shop. The pattern is called Moda Marbles Star Table Runner, featuring Moda fabrics. Moda fabrics are always one of my favorite. I am drawn to their patterns and color choices.
Table Runner:
This looks to me like it would be a great table runner to make in red, white and blue as shown. Of course, any complimentary four colors would work. The runner finishes at 15″ x 33″. It would be very easy to make it longer or even wider for that matter – just add another block or make the border a smidgen wider (they are only 3″). Our sister is moving into a new house in just two weeks, and I think a new table runner is in order.

Marbles Star Block
Let’s take a look at the marbles star block. The very center is just a pinwheel of four half-square triangles. Four flying geese pieces surround the center with half-square triangles at each corner. The directions are excellent, and help you through each step.
Once your three star blocks are made, you will add a 1.5″ sashing strip between each block plus an extra sashing on the first or last block. I think the sashing and cornerstones really set off the stars nicely. Looking closely at the star I can see this in holiday colors or fall jewel tones – both would be fabulous. Don’t let the half-square triangles intimidate you – you can do it.
How do you like this table runner? Would you make it or have you made one already? I am a fan of table runners – we mainly use them on our island because I have so many plants on our table. ~smile~
