Modern Quilting, Phoenix, AZ
Another stop on our fabulous extravaganza weekend of friends, laughter, and quilt shopping included a stop at the Modern Quilting shop (here is their website: www.modernquilting.com). Found in a shopping center with lots of other stores of all varieties, and it had a cute sign in the window advertising their Ba-Tiki Bar (for Batik fabrics). Billed as the newest quilt shop in the Valley, the store could also add the adjective of the brightest as well because they had lots of windows to make the shop feel well lit and inviting.
Carol greeted us upon arrival, asked us if we needed any assistance and told us about some sale items. We told her we were going to browse around but would be sure to ask if we had any questions. They had a ton of samples on the walls, many display areas featuring tempting projects along with the needed supplies to complete the project, and their main area of fabric stock was organized by color. It was very pleasing to the eye, and if you needed a certain color to complete your latest work of art, you knew exactly where to head for their selection.
We snagged a fun quilt panel by Urban Zoologie (more in an upcoming post) and a new pattern for the Runners Away Club that Sue belongs to at school (a table runner for every month). The Modern Quilting shop has a great selection of baby/children fabrics, patterns and books that were orderly and easy to browse through, and it looked like they offered a wonderful selection of classes. I would have liked to return to this shop more often than my visits to Phoenix allow, as there were many tempting projects I would have participated in.
A welcoming shop with anything you might want or need for quilting along with those items you don’t even know you want or need!
