Outdated Comforter Needs to be Replaced
I purchased my first home in 1986. It was 1,000 square feet of fun and responsibility. It still is in a quiet neighborhood with an elementary school just down the block, and it is where I started quilting. I bought a new comforter and matching pillow shams back then, and I am still using them. Unbelievable isn’t it?!! They are looking quite a bit outdated and I am planning to replace and update them.
Big time outdated!
Here is a closeup of the flower – you can easily see now that it is from the 80s – maybe the 90s. I do like the geometry and straight lines in this though:
One of the current quilt-alongs we are doing has inspired me to make a quilt for my bed. It needs to be queen size and we certainly have some experience with making five other queen size quilts this year. Most of the blocks in Grandma’s Kitchen are 12″ blocks and I like that size . . . and block one is definitely going to be a part of this quilt.
These are six of the blocks I am thinking of including in the quilt. Now if I can just think of what colors I would like to use. I have hunter green blinds so I would like to use some of that color but that’s about my only qualification. The quilt must include sashing and cornerstones to offset each block as well because I think that looks nice. I notice I am drawn to blocks using the half-square triangles, whether they turn into pinwheels or stars. Any thoughts or comments are more than welcome!
