Quarter Four Final Finish List for 2019
Quarter Four Finish-A-Long Update
Happy Thanksgiving to all of our Canadian friends!
This year we did join in on the fun of the Quarter Finish-A-Long. Our friend and fellow blogger, Sarah Z, at Cedar Fork, is one of the Hosts for the 2019 Finish-A-Long. The Quarter Four link just opened last Thursday and that means I need one last post about this topic for the year.
Can you believe the year is nearly over and we are firmly in the fourth quarter? Playing along with the finish-a-long has made us more productive, I believe. Just the act of stopping and making a list helps us focus and plan projects. Now, if I could ignore those annoying squirrel temptations that keep arising we would really rock the productive world!
Quarter Four – Our List
Here are the items we have chosen to finish during the fourth quarter.
- Make Ours a Double quilted
- Autumn Leaf quilted
- Quilt the Beothuk quilt top
- Quiet Book progress (any progress will do!)
- Pattern tester quilt top
- Monthly block challenge quilt top
- IG Honeybee Ripples blocks layout and quilt top
Quarter Four Fun
Let’s get real here – Goal #1 is probably the only goal that will be completed this fourth quarter. I’m tired of writing about the other three . . . but don’t want to totally forget about them, either. So, they remain on the list and you can ask me about them if you really care. HAHA! Now, Make Ours a Double is a fun and favorite quilt. Poor timing is the only reason why it didn’t get quilted right away. Adding this quilt to the finished column is possible as I can change that this quarter. Even the dreaded question of “how am I going to quilt it” has been already answered.
Quarter Three Carryover
Both items #2 and #3, the Autumn Leaf and Beothuk have not been quilted. Actually, we don’t even have the backing fabric for Beothuk yet. Autumn Leaf is a project that Sue started hand quilting but turned it over to me. I haven’t yet found a continuous quilting pattern that would easily mimic what she has quilted . . . so there’s that. Finally, #4, the Quiet Book is made a wee bit of headway. But, it too isn’t near a finish by a long mile. Here are the obligatory photos just in case anyone wants to see what they look like.
However, there is hope for these projects! Angela Walters’ next free-motion quilting challenge starts on October 28th. Called, “How do I quilt it?” sounds like a challenge I should participate in.
Quarter Four Newbies
A few new items were thrown on the list as pity projects. The list is way too short without them. We have a test pattern that we are working on for Becca at Pretty Piney. I’ll share more details about this in a separate post very soon. Number #6 on the list is the monthly block challenge that we’ve been following along with all year. Here is one of the most recent photos of all nine finished blocks – we haven’t started on the October block yet.
There’s no reason these can’t be a quilt top after we complete the December block. In theory, anyway. Finally, the October block we chose for the IG Honeybee group that we joined. I just ADORE our block choice. We have received a few blocks from our fellow beehive mates, and they are gorgeous! Again, in theory, we should have a quilt top finished well before the end of the year.
Quarter Four Squirrels
We do anticipate several projects that might be considered squirrels. Squirrels are projects that are not on the radar at all and are completely unplanned. Yet they push their way to the front of the line and take over your creative thinking. They sound a little bit like a bully, don’t you think? We’re allowing ourselves plenty of time for those fun, unexpected projects and not adding stress to the busiest months of the year for us.
Our other Linky Parties can be found by clicking the link above or along the sidebar on our website for more quilting fun – check out what our friends are up to. Like/follow us on our Facebook page and you can share your photos of what you’re working on. We would love to see them!
One step, then another, you will get there!
I love your list of projects, and I especially can relate to the “I’m tired of putting these on the list” feelings because oh, yes I have some of those too…and the proverbial bull squirrels. However I prefer to think of them as just pushy (in a good way) because they lead to satisfaction, happiness, and often quick finishes! Best of luck with your list! I have to write mine up yet.
Hi Roseanne, I so enjoy following all you are sewing. Sew beautiful.
And no, I can’t believe this year is heading to a close!!
Those squirrels have a way of adding to our lists don’t they. Good luck with your list.
Good luck with all your goals. I’m trying hard not to add anything new to my list but my quilting friends just keep adding quilt alongs. Thanks for the Thanksgiving greetings. Mine was awesome. The best one in years!
Beothuk is going to be beautiful. Love your colors! Your list is impressive! I hope to get more organized next year and progress on at least half of what I’ve started over the last 30 years. Still, I can’t help get pulled into temptation with something new here and there.
What a doable list. I believe in you getting it done. Cheers 😄 Carol
I love your list. I need a UFO only quarter to catch up 🙂
Trying to play catch up, it’s been a bit busy around here! Looks like you have lots of wonderful stuff going on.
Great list (and definitely more ambitious than my own!). I hope Beothuk gets quilted and finished this quarter because it is such a beautiful quilt. That would awesome if your Christmas Ripples blocks became a finished quilt this year, but there’s always next Christmas—right? Take care, Mary.
Ohhhh that delicious “Make Ours a Double” quilt…{insert drooling and dreamy googly eyes here}. I adore that quilt and your quilting choice looks perfect. And the monthly color blocks…Oh you two have your work cut out for you. And I seriously doubt that the squirrels will stay away. Happy sewing!
Hello Roseanne, You and Sue always amaze me with being able to make a list and being able to follow that list and especially completing items off of that list quarter after quarter….so on and so on! Believe me, you are great inspirations to me and because of the two of you, I have completed quite a few UFO’s this year. Plus, I enjoy reading comments and the positive support you get is superb and deserved. Just do what you can do and most of all…ENJOY YOURSELF! Have a fantastic day!!
I can hardly wait to see that ripples top together and quilted!
It sounds like a busy quarter. Our guild is having signups for UFO completions. Signups are due by mid November and completions April 2. We are each limited to 3 and I always sign up. Last year finished 2. I hope I complete all 3 this year.
I’m just impressed that you focus in and make a list. I don’t really do that; but I do have a mental list (it’s harder to keep – haha) that I basically follow. I do make lists now and then, especially if I have deadlines. You got this! You two make a good team!
Those baby/toddler busy hands books are so cute, but are the hardest to finish…so much detail. A friend plunged ahead and did one a few years ago and kept her fingers crossed she’d finish it before her granddaughter out grew it!!!!!
Happy Monday to you Roseanne.
You have a healthy list-you can do this;) One step(stitch) at a time!
